I so appreciate your support for the Storytime programs at Brickhouse Farm pumpkin patch. I am cancelling tomorrow's 11 am Storytime because we will get significant rainfall before, and perhaps during, our usual time frame. The pumpkin patch will open at the usual time.
The pumpkin patch will close for the season at 6:30 pm on Friday, October 31, 2025.

Thank you to the Storytime families that came out this afternoon. We read "Underground" by Denise Fleming, "Listen to the Language of Trees" by Tera Kelley, "Compost Stew" by Mary McKenna Siddals, and "Tops and Bottoms" by Janet Stevens. I learned a new song for this Storytime, it's called "Herman the Worm". Then our group helped me dig up sweet potatoes growing in the garden. Well done, group!
Final Storytime of the season will be Thursday, October 30th @ 11 am.

Storytime @ 3 pm today, also, Shelby will be face painting from 12:30 to 4:30.

Today, Oct. 25th, Shelby is all set up to paint a variety of images on your face or forearm for a small fee.
Tomorrow, Oct. 26th, Storytime will begin 3 pm. Our theme is "Deep Down Underground".

Final week of Brickhouse Farm's pumpkin patch and we have plenty of fine pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks and straw.
As the weather turns cooler, we think of the warm pumpkin spice flavors we so love, but don't forget about SOUP! It's nice to have a pot of soup or stew bubbling away on the stove/slow cooker.
Ask us about soup bones to add extra flavor and nutrition to your favorite soup recipes. We also have kale and turnips for sale.

Storytime tomorrow, Thursday, October 23rd at 11 am. "What's the Buzz" is our theme and I have an interesting exhibit that beekeeper Scott left for me to use. Weather will be windy tomorrow so keep that in mind when dressing for our outdoor Storytime!

Educational and entertaining Storytime yesterday thanks to a local beekeeper, Scott. I read THE MIGHTY POLLINATORS by Helen Frost and Rick Lieder, BEE: A PEAK THROUGH PICTURE BOOK BY Britta Teckentrup and BEE DANCE by Rick Chrustowski. Then Scott took over to show and tell the unique characteristics of the honey bee. We also saw the hives he built for his bees to live in and the equipment he uses to keep them healthy. We were able to observe the queen and the worker bees in an observation hive.

Face painting update: Ms Shelby is not feeling well today so will not be available to work her face painting magic.
Our "What's the Buzz" Storytime is still on track for a 3 pm start. Scott has so many interesting beekeeping items already on display.

We still have sssooooo many beautiful pumpkins in the patch; we also have straw bales, corn bundles, gourds and cooking pumpkins. This year we also have pick-your-own kale and turnips, $3/bag.
We accept cash and credit cards.
This Saturday (10/18) and Sunday (10/19), Shelby will be face painting for a small fee.

Our sunny, windy Storytime today featured tales of scarecrows and monsters. The attentive audience listened to 6 books, as well as singing/moving to 2 songs. We read THE SCARECROW'S HAT by Ken Brown, BARN DANCE! by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault, GO AWAY, BIG GREEN MONSTER! by Ed Emberley, JULIA'S HOUSE OF LOST CREATURES by Ben Hatke, THE MUSEUM OF UNNATURAL HISTORY a pop-up book by Kees Moerbeek, and THE GRUFFALO by Julia Donaldson. Whew!
Our next Storytime program is Sunday, October 19th at 3 pm. The theme will be "What's the Buzz?". One of our neighborhood beekeepers will demonstrate the equipment used to work safely with bees and tell us lots about them....after I read a few stories, of course!
This program may be very well attended, bring a chair or blanket if you prefer to sit during Storytime.
