Doodle Acres Goats

Doodle Acres Goats Striving to improve the Nigerian Dwarf breed through linear appraisal, DHI, shows, and DNA testing. Doodle Acres was founded in 2013.

Originally it all started with just two home milker type Nigerian Dwarfs, but once we learned about showing we upgraded does and worked to prove our herd. In 2014 we did our first ADGA Linear Appraisal. By 2015 we had moved up to Production Plus status; Participating in LA, DHI, and DNA testing. Today, four years after starting, we have a successful herd of over 30 healthy goats. In addition to ou

r Nigerians, we have also expanded into breeding Nubians. We continue to invest and work hard to produce goats that will perform well in the show ring and serve a purpose at home on the farm.

So far we’ve had an incredibly successful Montgomery County Fair! Doodle Acres Warriors Choice AI won her GCH Jr leg and Doodle Acres GD Cisné won reserve. We were happy enough with our two ribbons, but the Warriors Choice went on to win Best in Show under Karen Smith!

We still have milkers tomorrow!

Karuka is a really sharp two-year-old with some exciting genetics behind her. Her mother Acorn finished her championship and was the 11th place 4yr old at the 2017 ADGA National show in Madison, WI.
Her father is a son of the well-known buck GCH TX Twincreeks FAX SummerKnight who sired countless grand champion daughters. Not to mention his mother is a direct daughter of SG Promisedland SS Deviant, who threw his fair share of beautiful and productive daughters.

Karuka herself is a strong milker and milked over 3lbs on her first test in 2018.

Saphy is a really nice productive two-year-old first freshener with some excellent lines behind her. She kidded without assistance over 3 weeks ago and milked 2.8lbs on her first milk test this month. She's not to shabby to milk either. She's got great stand manners and big teats, along with nice soft udder texture. I could go on and on about the lines behind her but instead, I'll just put the most important points-

❈ Her dam (Sussana) was the 11th place out of 32 2yr olds at the 2016 ADGA National Show
❈Her dam (Sussana) easily milked over 600lbs as a FF to get her AR star and averaged 1000+lbs a year after that.
❈ Her sire's dam (Selene) was 4th place out of 46 4yr olds at the 2015 ADGA National Show
❈Her sire's sire (Thunderstruck) is a full brother to GCH Algedi Farm Drops of Jupiter EEE 91

Saphy, along with our entire herd, tested negative for CAE and Johnes in March 2019. Below are photos of Saphy and her close family

Doodle Acres is in search of a part-time helper to assist with feeding, milking, and general dairy goat care. Feeding times will be a mix of some afternoon feedings and some mornings. With at least two consistent days being offered a week. Additionally, there will be weekend and the odd week where feeding will be necessary while we're gone.

Experience with dairy goats isn't necessary to start out but those with at least some experience taking care of horses, dairy goats, or another type of livestock are preferred.

If interested please contact Cassandra Wheeles at [email protected]. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone (18 and above) who loves animal, has some free time, and wants a unique part-time job!

We love this fuzzy little udder on our soon to be yearling FF; Doodle Acres T Warrior Queen!

Warrior Queen is an Alethia P Twizzlers and Doodle Acres BB Warbird daughter. She’ll be one of our first Twizzlers daughters and our second Warbird daughter to freshen. We can’t wait to see this snug looking mammary and see if we can’t get her into the show ring!

-UPDATE- this little guy is pending pick-up. Thank you to everyone who inquired!

We currently have one Nigerian Dwarf wether available -free- to an approved home.

This little guy isn’t one of our average wethers. He is a cryptorchid, which means he has a testicle that didn’t descend properly into his sc***um. His other testicle did descend, and was taken care of by us of surgically, but the undescended testicle will need a more invasive procedure to be removed.

As stated this guy will be available at no cost to an approved home. This person will either need to have a place he can live as a buck or be willing to pay for the procedure needed to make him a ‘true’ wether.

Serious inquires only please.

Our Story

Doodle Acres was founded in 2013 with two goats and a goal of getting fresh milk. Soon though we discovered the difference in lines and the need to not just have any milkers, but goats that were nice and easy to milk. In 2014 we purchased our first show does, won our first GCH ribbon with Isabella, and participated in our first linear appraisal session. After all that we were hooked on showing and more comitted than ever! In 2015 we stepped up and joined ADGA’s DHI program. In 2016 we finished four does and entered our first national show. In 2017 we had our first top 5 placing at the ADGA National Show in Madison, Wisconsin with Doodle Acres BB Warbird placing 5th with third udder in her yearling miker class. And in 2018 we celebrated our first homebred champions, GCH Doodle Acres UP Raggedy Ann and GCH Doodle Acres CN SPanish Aurora along with two Best in Show wins at very large and competative shows.

Today, with four years of achievments behind us, we’re happy to say we’re just getting warmed up. Our focus is on producing goats of a superior quality, that will do well in the show ring and milk well at home. We hope to continue to positively contribute to the Nigerian breed and respresent dairy goats from the state of Maryland.
