What a beautiful day!! Everyone is out enjoying the sun including the tulips! These guys will be for sale at the stand this spring!

That’s just Daisy, keeping the sweet pea seeds warm until they germinate! 🤣

Spring update on the farm! Back in December and January Lisianthus seedlingers were started! These buggers take FOREVER to grow so although they are making good progress they are still babies. The tulip bed has had its squirrel proof cover taken off and a top layer of grass put on. The squirrels have had their own feeding pan put out so fingers crossed that will keep them away from the now exposed tulip bulbs. So far so good!

This week I started soaking sweet pea seeds and they are now planted and I’m hoping to get them out by the end of March. These guys grow very fast and vigorously and there is absolutely nothing better in late Spring than a bouquet of sweet peas!

Finally, next week will be time to start pre-sprouting ranunculus! Last year my crop was unfortunately flooded which severely limited the number of flowers that grew. Speaking of flooding, my main beds by the flower stand are getting an overhaul this year. Trenches are currently being dug around the beds and planting spaces are being raised. I’m halfway done with a small retention pond at the back slope of the beds. I’m hoping the trenches and the pond will help with the flooding that area is prone too. I’ll also be planting mostly zinnias there this year because those guys can put up with most anything!

Everything is still brown and pretty sad looking but the bees have already shown up this week (they are everywhere!) so Spring will be here soon!

One of my new favorites! Aeonium! These babies will get big and they are super easy to propagate. There are also SO many varieties! What a great way to spend a cold, windy afternoon. Another variety that may make it to the farmstand once big enough to propagate ❤️

Wise advice!! 😃

Did you know there are multiple mint cultivars with different scents?? From chocolate to hazelnut and also lime, pineapple, cotton candy, pear, Bible mint (an old traditional mint!). My ultimate favorite is strawberry. It REALLY smells like strawberries! Mint is one of the easiest plants to propagated. This winter I’m propagating my mint babies indoors to (fingers crossed ) offer for sale in the stand next summer! These will be rooted mint starter plants that you won’t find at your local store. Great for mojitos, cooking, or just having around to enjoy their scent. Always plant in pots though as it can overtake a garden quickly!

It’s official! The 2026 season has begun! Welcome baby lisianthus! These guys start with a seed just a tiny bit bigger than a dust particle. They take 4 months to get big enough to go outside and must be misted and inspected daily. Perfect plant to baby during the winter. But boy are they pretty when they bloom!!

A few things I’m working on tonight for Christmas! Wish I had a better setting for pics, but I missed my window for sunlight outside 🫤 So my workspace will have to suffice.
