The Mundt Runt Ranch We are a small, growing farm in Northeast Iowa. We are actively working towards a non-traditional pick your own location.

Located in Northeast Iowa, we are actively working towards a non-traditional pick your own. Plants are in the ground and we are just waiting to reap the bounty. Future produce to include hazelnuts, aronia berries, pawpaws, nanking cherries, haskaps (honeyberries), saskatoons, Goumi berries, and elderberries. Our traditional produce will include blackberries, asparagus, rhubarb, and cherries.

Ever wanted to try American Pawpaw? Its the only native tropical fruit. 3$ a lb if interested in trying...youll never find in stores bevause its simply too delicate to ship or handle a lot..people describe as sort of banana like with hints of vanilla cimustard, or mango. I almost hate trying to say what it tastes similar to because that makes an expectation in your brain and it's a completely unique flavor. The seeds can be saved and planted.

Mushroom Cultivating update:
Its been just under 2 weeks and I have great mycelium growth. I did end adding some shredded cardboard for easy food that I keep lightly misted. Its a gentle balance maintaining humidity while preventing mold and getting good air circulation....involved opening and closing them daily for a bit of fresh air each day. Good mycelium growth is achieved when you reach in and can pick up a ball of the mix. When looking close you'll see white strings throughout. And inside the bag smells like a package of fresh mushrooms from the store. We recently had very heavy rains so its a good time to move them out under the trampolines! Lets hope they colonized and im picking w**e caps later this year.

Adding something new to the farm!!!! Mushrooms 🍄 🍄 🍄. Starting with some basic w**e caps. I soaked chopped h**p and Aspen wood chips in a hydrated lime solution for 24 hours to kill any preexisting/competitive fungus. Then drained it well. Innoculated a 50:50 mix of those substrates with some sawdust spawn. Its been 3 days and I already have little baby mycelium. Once its fully colonized, Ill put it in my munched areas under the trampolines.
