We were so pumped when the Dyersville Commercial reached out to us about doing an article for Salute to Pork for Pork month! We’re so appreciative of the people who believe in us with this journey! And our customers who have supported us. 🤗

As always we have breeders and feeders as well as shares available.

It’s no surprise that naturally bred and pasture-raised pigs produce better quality meat.

Growing up on a farm and living my dream on one everyday, I know we’re going to have losses. It’s hard sometimes but I’ve accepted that fact. Not saying I don’t shed a tear or two when we have a loss as we love every animal dearly.

But what does totally rip my heart out is when it’s one of my kids critters that they love so much. Sunday we had to put down our kids beloved pony Oreo. She coliced Saturday and we did everything we could but was just too bad, with a possible twisted gut. My kids are just devastated. That was a conversation that was just gut wrenching to me. They’re all young and have a hard time accepting death and totally understanding it. They loved that ornery little pony.

And I’m SO grateful for an awesome vet that drops everything and will be here in a drop of a hat. We appreciate Virgil from Animal Health so much, we don’t know what we’d do without him.

We have some hens and roosters looking to fly to new coops! Some purebreds and some barnyard mixes! Everyone is laying. All are currently free ranging

We’re ready to part ways with our lovely IPP sow Poppy. She is currently bred for the next month to our registered IPP boar. She has a more Kune Kune look to her than what we like and sometimes her piglets reflect that. We kept back one of her daughters as a replacement. Who is absolutely gorgeous!

She was the best sow to get us started with IPPs on our farm. Super friendly. Loves people. Easy to handle. Respected fences, we keep her in a 1-2 strand poly wire electric fence.

She is updated on deworming and starting to show she is bred.
She will make someone very happy!

Lucy blessed us with 2 little ones. A little boy and girl. These are our last Jagger babies born on the farm as we decided to get a new buck this year.

We decided to dip our toes into something new 🥰

We wanted to hit up another market and invested in our first Dorpers!!

I’m so excited but never thought I’d make this plunge.

We’re starting out with 4 ewe lambs and a gorgeous Ram from Double A Dorpers.

The kids named the ram Glen 😆

We dropped off our IPP feeders at the locker this week.

193,200, and 249 hanging weights at almost 10 months old made us incredibly happy!

We absolutely love these pigs. As always we have shares and feeders available.

Our gilt that was breeding quality didn’t make the trailer. Someone backed out in her share and we didn’t need the extra hog this time around. The kids have officially named her Bridget (from Trolls 🙄) and we may give her a chance to become a mom next year since Nelly isn’t able to be bred any longer.
