HAPPY PRIDE!!! 🌈🩵 It’s one of our most favorite times of the year, and we’re so excited for the month ahead 🥳 This month, we’re donating 10% of profits to the LGBTQ+ Youth Center of Durham!

We have a fun blueberry filled lineup for you, including our brand new Blueberry Basil Hibiscus and Blueberry Dream specials 🫐

At the end of the month, we’ll be closing from June 29 to July 7 for our Team Rest Week! We’re looking forward to our team having time to rest and recharge 💤

team spotlight: Eunseong 🐯

Eun has been with our team since the beginning of last year, and we’re so lucky to have such a kind, considerate soul to work alongside! As the oldest sibling in his family, he’s always looking out for his team members and is often the first to offer help with side tasks that pop up. Eun is also our unofficial shop plant expert and the reason why our shop plants are still thriving! 🩵

community spotlight: Day from Dormant Plant Parlor 💐

Day is the heart and soul of one of our favorite businesses, Dormant Plant Parlor, as well as one of our favorite human beings.

Our brick and mortar businesses opened about a month apart, and it felt like we immediately started working together on event planning and brainstorming so many ideas. We still remember the spark of our first meeting that just felt like it was the stars aligning for our new businesses. Day’s passion and good-heartedness shine through Dormant, and we are so honored to get to grow alongside them as we navigate and support each other through small business life.

Dormant brings a truly talented and artistic touch to floral arranging that feels both so personal and meticulously curated. Day is one of the sweetest and most special people we’ve met along this journey, and we could not be more excited for their next chapter with Dormant! 🩵

community spotlight: Roi 💜

Roi has been a part of our community for about a year now, always visiting us for his midday pick-me-ups between work and school or for an end of week treat! He always gets excited for any new Filipino desserts or drinks we have available and jumped on our ube condensed milk when we featured it this past Halloween. He’s been asking for us to bring it back consistently ever since. We love seeing his enthusiasm for cultural representation and the joy he expresses when we nail a special he really loves!

“Between home and work, The Bean Flower is the place I frequent the most (since it’s on the way lol). I’m not even that big on boba, but the kind community that The Bean Flower has fostered and continues to foster keeps me coming back. I’m glad that this month is the return of my favorite topping: ube condensed milk. I personally get it with matcha as their flavors compliment each other for a nice sweet drink, maybe some taho to go along with it, but the good thing about it is you can try it with other drinks! After a long day at work, The Bean Flower provides the best place to sit back and relax, even for a little while.”

We’re so excited to officially share that we now carry Bad Oven baked goods here at the Bean Flower! 💜

Bad Oven is a one-woman Filipina-American microbakery based in Cary, NC.

If you’ve ever wanted to try real ube jam, Bad Oven has been making it from scratch for the past five years. It’s called Oob® and was trademarked way before ube went viral in the US. 😌 Each batch uses real ube from the Philippines and takes hours to make before going into the Purple Bun® and Ube White Chocolate Chip Cookie.

As for the calamansi cookies, if you’re looking for legit calamansi flavor, you’re in luck because Bad Oven also uses calamansi extract sourced directly from the Philippines!

Come in and enjoy a Purple Bun or a cookie with your Bean Flower order! :)

In early celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Threads of Us opens today 🩵

Our stories are shaped by centuries of history woven into every fiber of our cultures. Our identities cannot be singularly defined.

A common thread that runs across the breadth of AAPI experiences is the ever-evolving journey of identity and celebrating our cultures, even in the face of a long-standing American history of systemic racism towards AAPI. In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, we’re opening this space for AAPI artists to share artwork that speaks to their lived experiences and cultures on their own terms. From lighthearted and joyful celebrations to reflections on tender and complicated struggles, we welcome you to learn about their stories and explore the fullness and diversity of AAPI identities.
