Perkins Orchard 56th Season underway! We are the largest & oldest produce market in Durham, NC. High quality produce, great customer service, and an atmosphere second to none.

We welcome you to our 3 acre estate & my life’s work! Try our popular $25 bag deal + Free item! Perkins Orchard was founded in 1970 by the Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Perkins. It started out as a simple roadside stand with Tomatoes & Cucumbers, before long Dr. Perkins was planting trees around the House in which Perkins Orchard Rest. 200 plus fruit trees covered the 3 acre property. Plum Trees, Apples, Pears, Cherry Trees, Pecan, Blue berry bushes, Peach trees, & Grape vines along with the annual garden. As time past connections were made with farmers across the state of North Carolina & to this day we rely mostly on these connections that deliver such produce. Our company is based on the Belief & Trust of the honor system. There is a Drop Box through the door in which customers can drop there money or change after they have completed there purchase. Perkins Orchard is beneath 50 feet of shaded trees which provides a beautiful atmosphere when surrounded by Fresh Fruits & Vegetables. Our entire team is committed to providing a wonderful outdoor atmosphere, As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals.

It is with profound sadness that the Perkins family announces the passing of our beloved matriarch, Carrie Lee Perkins, who peacefully departed this life on September 5, 2026, at 5:12 PM.

Alongside her husband, Dr. Joseph E. Perkins, she helped lay the foundation of what would become Perkins Orchard. But her greatest legacy was never measured by what she built—it was measured by the people she touched.

For decades, she served as an educator, woman of faith, community leader, devoted mother and grandmother, and a mother figure to countless others. Generations were shaped by her teaching, her prayers, her wisdom, and her love.
Our hearts are broken, but we are deeply grateful for the life she lived and the foundation she left beneath us.
Teacher. Matriarch. Woman of Faith. Co-Founder of Perkins Orchard.
Rest peacefully, Grandma. ❤️
Your work is finished. Your legacy is not.
