5 reasons rosé is the perfect choice for August 🌅🍷

☀️ It’s refreshing. Served chilled with bright acidity, rosé was practically made for hot summer days.

🦐 It pairs with almost everything. Seafood, grilled meats, salads, tacos, fresh summer produce… rosé plays well with them all.

🌊 It belongs on the patio. Beach days, sunset dinners, and long August evenings just feel better with a chilled glass in hand.

🍓 There’s a style for everyone. Crisp and bone-dry, fruit-forward, light and delicate, or rich and savory, there’s a rosé for every palate.

💗 And honestly? It’s August. If there was ever a time to think pink, this is it.

Stop in and find your perfect bottle of rosé for the rest of summer.

Quinta das Arcas Tapada Nova Pet-Nat — From the lush Vinho Verde region of Portugal, this pét-nat is crafted using the ancestral method from Loureiro and Trajadura grapes, finishing its fermentation right in the bottle for a naturally hazy pour and a gentle, fine-beaded sparkle. Fresh and fruity with a soft, easy-drinking character, it’s playful and food-friendly. Pour it for casual patio sipping, tapas, light poultry, or fish dishes.

Seiterre Lugana — Hailing from the shores of Lake Garda in Lombardy, Italy, this Lugana is made from 100% Turbiana grapes grown in mineral-rich clay and limestone soils. Pale straw in the glass, it opens with fragrant aromas of yellow flowers, ripe peach, and citrus, carrying through to a lively, well-balanced palate with a touch of savory minerality on the finish. A natural match for shellfish, creamy pastas, or a classic Italian aperitivo spread.

Lyrarakis Liatiko — Grown in the hills of Crete, Greece, this dry red is made from 100% Liatiko, the island’s own native grape. Bricky red in color even in youth, it offers a seductively fragrant nose of fresh red fruit, dried cranberry, and cherry, with chalky, dusty tannins and bright acidity carrying it to a fresh, food-ready finish. Best served lightly chilled alongside grilled meats, octopus, or Mediterranean mezze.

Bodegas Arrocal ‘Gumiel de Mercado’ Ribera del Duero — From a family-run estate in the heart of Ribera del Duero, Spain, this Tempranillo-driven red comes from high-altitude vineyards at 830 meters. Cherry-red with a bright rim, it shows layered red and black fruit, savory spice, and a hint of oak toast, with a silky texture and lasting finish. Pour it with roasted meats, aged cheeses, or a hearty stew.

What’s on Our Plate: Turkish Meat Kebabs 🔥
by Chris Chisholm

This homemade adaptation of Adana Kebabs bring the warm, smoky flavors of Turkish cuisine to your table. These flavorful kebabs are seasoned with warm spices, garlic, and onion, then grilled until juicy and served alongside fresh pita, herbed rice, cucumber salad, and a cool yogurt sauce.

Suggested Pairing:
The savory spices and bright lemon notes make this dish incredibly versatile with wine. Try it with a lightly chilled Beaujolais or Valpolicella if you’re in the mood for red. For white wine lovers, Greek Assyrtiko or Italian Falanghina offer crisp citrus and refreshing minerality.

Our featured pairing this week is Husch Chenin Blanc from Mendocino, California. With bright citrus, ripe orchard fruit, and mineral-driven freshness, it’s a beautifully balanced wine that complements the bold spices while enhancing the fresh herbs and lemon in the dish.

Chef’s Tip: Rest the meat mixture for 1-2 hours before cooking. It helps develop the signature tender, juicy texture that makes these kebabs so delicious. 👨‍🍳

What is your favorite part of working at Snug Harbor Wine?

My favorite part about working at Snug Harbor Wine is helping someone who knows little about wine walk out the door with a bottle they’re excited to try. I also love the relationships we’ve built with our regular customers; many have known me since I worked alongside Richard, our previous owner, and they’ve become part of our extended family. What makes this shop truly special is our incredible community. From collaborating with Snug Harbor Fish on wine pairings to supporting our neighbors at French Memories, we’re surrounded by amazing local businesses. Together, we’ve created a welcoming neighborhood and a thoughtfully curated wine selection that’s as unique as the community we serve.

What is your favorite wine that we have in the shop?

Currently, I’m especially enjoying the Palmento Costanzo Mofete Etna Bianco, an exceptional entry-level volcanic white wine from the northern slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy. This unique blend of 70% Carricante and 30% Catarratto beautifully showcases Sicily’s native grape varieties. Carricante contributes vibrant acidity, fresh citrus notes, and a distinctive crushed-rock minerality, while Catarratto adds richness, texture, and delicate orchard fruit flavors. What makes this wine truly special is its sense of place; it captures the unique volcanic terroir of Mount Etna in every sip. It’s a remarkable expression of Sicily’s winemaking heritage and a wonderful reminder of why Italian wines are so beloved.

What do you like the best about being in Duxbury?
I love the being by the water in Duxbury, sandwiched in between two established family owned businesses. It’s so nice to collaborate with both of them and to be surrounded by such a nice small community. It’s what I love about wine as well. People coming together as a community and enjoying something. I look for the same theme in the wines we carry, small family owned wineries where people have poured their heart and soul into their wines.

What is your favorite wine in the shop?
I have so many favorites in the store, but right now I’m loving the wine we had open last week: St. Jacques Le Petit. It’s a white blend from the Languedoc region of France, featuring Viognier, which is one of my favorite grapes. Viognier is a lesser-known grape with so many interesting flavors. It can be beautifully aromatic, floral, and fruit-forward. This is such a fun wine to enjoy, especially if you’re looking to try something a little different.
