CONTEST TIME! Don’t forget to get your guesses in!

On 8/20/26, we moved these two goats to an overgrown area of our property. This area was used as a burn pile in the past. These boys will clean it up pretty quickly! Who wants to take a guess how many days it will take them to clean it up? Closest guess will win a free surprise gift from our online shop! The First Egg

Back in April, our farm was hit by some pretty severe storms. Our barn and fences were badly damaged, and we were without power for two days.

At the time, we had a batch of chicken eggs in the incubator. With no electricity, we used a generator to warm them back up whenever we could. The temperature and humidity were anything but consistent, and honestly, we weren’t sure if those little lives inside the eggs would make it.

But nature had other plans.

Against the odds, 12 little chickens hatched. We couldn’t believe it.

Today, that same round of chickens laid their very first egg. The eggs are small—just as first eggs usually are—but holding that little egg in our hands brought us back to those stormy days in April. It reminded us of the resilience of life. It reminded us of the resilience of this farm. And it reminded us that Mother Nature demands our respect.

Most of all, it reminded us how much we have to be thankful for.

We lost fences. We lost parts of our barn. We lost power. But we didn’t lose a single goat or chicken. Our family remained safe, tucked in the basement.

Sometimes, it’s the small things that stop you in your tracks.

Today, for us, it was a tiny first egg.

We hope something small brings you to a quiet moment of reflection today, too. Maybe it’s an egg, a sunrise, a flower, a warm cup of coffee, or simply a moment with the people (or animals) you love.
There is so much resilience around us—and so much to be thankful for. 🐔🥚❤️
