Today we're celebrating a very important member of Spain Family Farm — it's Rocket's birthday! 🐾🎂

Rocket is an amazing pheasant dog with just one small problem... he's deathly afraid of guns. 😂

Fortunately, he's found plenty of other jobs around here.

He's a constant companion, an incredible protector, and always seems to know when it's time to tag along for whatever we're doing around the farm. He's been beside us through a whole lot of life, and Spain Family Farm just wouldn't be the same without him.

He may never understand that being a bird dog and being terrified of gunshots don't exactly go together, but that's okay. We wouldn't change him.

Today is a special day around Spain Family Farm — it's our wedding anniversary. ❤️

Long before there was a Spain Family Farm, before the garlic fields, goats, chickens, soaps, farmers markets, and all the projects that seem to find their way onto our list, there was just the two of us starting a life together.

We certainly didn't know then exactly what that life would look like.

Over the years, our family grew, our dreams changed, and eventually that life led us here — raising our kids, building our little farm, and creating something together that we're incredibly proud to call ours.

So today we're celebrating where this story started, while being very thankful for where it has taken us.

And there's still plenty of the story left to write. ❤️

Happy National Farmer’s Day! 🚜🌱

When we started Spain Family Farm in 2022, we had no idea exactly where this farm would take us.

Since then, there have been thousands of cloves of garlic planted by hand, plenty of long days, a growing herd of goats, chickens to take care of, new products made in our kitchen and shop, and more lessons learned than we could ever count.

Farming for us isn't about doing things on a huge scale. It's about building something with our own hands, raising our kids around it, taking care of what we have, and producing things we're proud to put our family's name on.

There are a lot of easier ways to make a living. But there aren't many we'd trade this one for.

Today, on National Farmer's Day, we're especially thankful for everyone who chooses to support local farms — whether that's buying a dozen eggs, a bulb of garlic, a bar of soap, or simply following along and cheering us on.

From our family to yours, thank you for supporting Spain Family Farm. ❤️

Garlic season may be winding down, but around here we're already thinking about the next one. 🧄

Garlic has been a big part of Spain Family Farm from the beginning, and every year we learn a little more, grow a little more, and somehow find ourselves planting a little more. 😂

This year we grew thousands of bulbs right here on our farm in Dwight, Illinois — some for your kitchens, some for our garlic powder and garlic salt, and plenty saved to keep the cycle going again next year.

Here is a picture from our first garlic season. We grew about 400 plants. It's wild to think about how much the garlic plans have grown!

Growing something from a single clove, harvesting it months later, and eventually seeing it end up on someone else's dinner table never gets old.

🤎 A little soap science! 🧼

Ever wonder why our vanilla goat milk soap changes color?

Vanilla fragrance oil can react with oxygen and cause soap to gradually turn from a lighter color to a beautiful shade of brown. It’s a natural color change caused by the fragrance, not a sign that anything is wrong with your soap!

This is one of those behind-the-scenes details that makes handmade soap so interesting. Every ingredient has its own personality!

Our vanilla goat milk soap is made with milk from our very own goats. 🐐🥛 The color may change over time, but that’s just part of the magic of handmade soap!
