It’s no secret around here…that most people know we bought our farm because of a movie. Have you seen “We Bought a Zoo?” Well….we did kinda that. Not a clue…we bought this place with an old four wheeler and a 24 inch pull behind mower. We’ve learned lots over the past five years. Today I was cutting up foods to go feed everyone and realized that I do live in a zoo. Not only do I get to go love my animals but also share them with you online and in person. It’s also a zoo because I’m a mom of two teenagers, have two travel soccer players and farmer Todd works farming after his full time job. 😴😂 I can happily say after all of this time…we did indeed buy a zoo. 🐖 🐖 🐐 🐐 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐓🐓🐓🐓🐎🐕🐕🐕

Sorry I’ve been slacking on our posts. Farmer Lisa was under the weather and in quarantine which felt like forever. Thank goodness for cute animals and amazing humans that got me through. The goats patiently awaited my return and I’m very grateful to be not watching Netflix for a very long time.

Did you know that Marshmallow’s rectangular-shaped pupils allows him to see danger approaching from his peripheral vision? The only other animals that have pupils like this are sheep, toads and an octopus. This helps protect them from predators both night and day.

Fall is for all goats. Spring is for babies. This fall you'll see Pearl who is as big as a mini pony...Popcorn who is still just as annoying....Gotye, Archie, Boots, Moo-Moo, Leap, Hopper, John Dutton, Gracie and Mearl.

Not gonna lie. The farm has been whoopin my butt lately.
Summer on the farm isn't for wussies.
Poison ivy. Tick bite. Grass growing higher than Willie Nelson. Yesterday, as I was feeding everyone - I was standing straight over my best friend Mearl and he accidentally punched me in the nose and teeth with his face. I've never had a bloody nose before. Fun.
Today, I'm back at it. Poison ivy is gone. Tick bite is healed. Finger is better. Still have my teeth. Grass is cut. Mearl is my bestie again and we smooched a long smooch after I cleaned their water. You can either throw your hands up and scream....or get back to it the next day, even better than the day before.

In honor of National Simplicity Day (that's today by the way) we wanted to share our first wildflowers. Farmer Todd and all of his adorableness trying to keep those darn goats from eating them all. We'll see how long they last. Happy Simplicity Day! Enjoy the little things!

When the baby goats love these delicious leaves….so you grab them and pull the yummy branches down for them with your bare hands! Then you go….hmmm…does poison Ivy have berries? Well guys…in late summer it sure does. If you need me…I’ll be scratching myself annoyed somewhere. 😳🌿🍃🌱

Goats 'drawn to happy human faces'

There is no reason....not to smile around farm animals. We have a few goats that we call our "close talkers" and they get right on your lips and sniff. It's so weird and adorable, kind of like the guy living with goats in the video at the end of this article. I mean, why not.

Scientists find that goats are drawn to humans with happy facial expressions.

We said goodbye to our Black Bean this weekend. We let him live his best life, as long as we absolutely could. He was blind and I'm telling you he's doing the three legged race with us from the stars. The past few weeks I've been carrying him to the pasture and his time had come. I'm so blessed that he chose to stay with us for so long.

I always sang the song Jolene to him by Dolly Parton...but instead of Jolene....I sang Black Bean, Black Bean, Black Bean, Black Beannnnnnn.....and I hope you hum this tune today in his honor.
