CKC Good Food pairs our wide variety of delicious meals with unparalleled operational and customer support to ensure the success and compliance of your food service program. This combination has helped CKC Good Food grow to become one of the largest, woman-owned food service partners in Minnesota. Each day, we prepare more than 30,000 meals that are served at client sites -- public charter and private schools, daycares and out-of-school enrichment programs. All our clients operating under the National School Lunch Program consistently keep their participation levels and revenues high, maximize reimbursements, make full use of commodities and surpass the expectations of auditors when they undergo their USDA Administrative Reviews. Our founder, Nancy Close, is from the restaurant family behind St. Paul’s former Caravan Serai, the first Afghan restaurant in the United States. Nancy grew up in, and eventually bought, that business, which birthed Caravan Kids Catering. Since catering our first daycare center from the Caravan Serai kitchen in the early 90s, CKC Good Food has focused on finding new ways to tempt the taste buds of people across many different cultures, while incorporating fresh, high quality ingredients. Even under today’s strict nutritional guidelines of the National School Lunch Program and other federal nutrition programs, we have upheld our commitment to providing delicious, healthful, restaurant-quality meals that inspire happy eaters. School food funding worth a look!

There are a couple of grant opportunities currently open for Minnesota schools looking for ways to bring more locally grown foods into their meal programs or upgrade equipment.

Farm to Kids Grants:
Through MN Department of Agriculture
- First Bite: up to $5,000
- Full Tray: up to $25,000
- Equipment: up to $20,000
- Local Tots Cost-Share: up to $1,000
📅 Applications due Oct 15 at 4 p.m. CT

NSLP Equipment Grant:
Through Minnesota Department of Education - up to $25,000 for one piece of equipment to support healthier meals, food safety and access to school meals.
📅 Applications due Oct 23 at 4 p.m. CT

Pass the pupusas, please!

For Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to share some of the foods that reflect the rich cultures and flavors of the Hispanic and Latine communities we serve.

Chicken Tamales and Birria & Cheese Pupusas are two popular favorites. The Egg Chilaquiles and Southwest Black Bean Burritos are yummy vegetarian options. And of course, there are the crowd-pleasers we all know and love - Tacos, Burritos and Quesadillas.

These aren’t just dished up this time of year. They’re on the menu year-round because we believe part of what makes food good is reflecting the cultures we serve across Minnesota.
