June 5th
Summer is finally kicking into gear and I am finishing up all the farm spring clean up that has been delayed by a late spring.

This past weekend the fence lines on the south field have been repaired in the hopes of keeping the goats contained which seems to be working except the fact I then left the gate wide open (aarrgh).

The big manure pile has made its way to a new home I was glad to be able to help a neighbor adding a nice layer of compost to a new field in the sandy soil in Conover.

The big mixers and ovens have been stripped down and cleaned and the new bakery faucets came in today and will be repaired on Sunday so bigger better bread is on the way for next week.

There is still more work to happen on the farm but I do have some young help starting when school is out lets see if he sticks around after driving fence posts on the north field is the summer heat.

I plan on being at the Eagle River Farmers Market on Wednesday and Sunday from 8:30-1 and Minocqua Farmers market on Fridays from 8-1 for the rest of the summer. I do have my weekly order form linked at the top of the page for pre orders (purple box) that is open from Friday- Monday with pick up Wednesday-Sunday if you get a chance check it out, also check out the Northwoods Farmshare for a group of local farmers and producers..

Ok this is long enough, its late and I am tired and will have a long day tomorrow...have a restful night.

Sunday May 17th
It has been a busy day here on the farm the chicken coop has been cleaned out, goat yard scraped down, new baby pens mostly built and barn pens cleaned out. Thanks to all the wonderful help today. It is now raining so time for a break then I am going to do some work in the barn.

Starting this week things really start getting busy Mondays are going to be my cheese plant days, Tuesdays will be bakery Wednesday Eagle River Farmers Market 8:30-1, Thursday deliveries, Baking and farm catch up, Fridays Minocqua Farmers Market from 8-1, Saturdays will be bakery, farm work, family time, and Sundays Eagle River Farmers Market from 8:30-1.

I have to laugh as I look at this I realize there is no time for things to go wrong and this saying my grandma used to tell me comes to mind "man plans God laughs" I will have to remember this as summer goes on as I am sure things will go wrong and I will have to adjust on the fly. Here's to a busy summer of plans and chaos.

Monday May 4th
I have had the most unproductive-productive day today....
got an early start with the farm chores and milking,
Had breakfast ( yeah win for a meal today),
Did a dump run,
Cleaned out the van to get ready for farmers market starting on Wednesday,
Dug out the tables from storage,
Fixed the canopy
Washed out the refrigerator and freezer for the farmers market, Made a late lunch/early dinner,
Managed a nap in there(yeah for another win),
Started the bread starters and soaked grains so I can bake
tomorrow

Ok I did lot why did I feel so unproductive??? Because this is not what I had on my list for today but it was what needed to be done so I am calling this as a grateful win I got 2 meals today and a nap and all the farm animals are fed and watered heres to hoping I get to that list tomorrow in-between baking and packing cheese for the market..

Sunday April 26th
A quick update
It has been a crazy busy week last week and thanks to my kids there has been a lot of spring(multiply year accumulation) farm clean up and several trips to the dump.
For the previous 2 weeks I have been working on the milk house. parlor, and dairy plant playing beat the clock before the farmers markets start for the season and progress has been made slowly. 3 of the 4 walls in the dairy plant have been washed, the steps painted(still in the toxic fume stage), shelves organized and still there is more to do.
The milk parlor has had the stanchion cleaned and all the mats washed, floor drains cleaned out (gross) I still need to pressure wash the walls and floors.

The milk house has been organized but still needs pressure washing walls and floors this will happen in this coming week.

The barn has been mostly cleaned out with the exception of cleaning out the baby goat pens (they were moved outside finally today) and the mystery back corner (scary and dark) has had almost everything pulled out of it still need to scrape the floors and figure out some sort of light for there(baby steps)

The back office and storage area had been cleaned out and organized, all shelving set up and sorting boxes done (plumbing, electric, mason tools, screws, tools, ect). OMG there was so much stuff laying everywhere no wonder I could never find anything and I did find lots of things that I didn't even know I owned!! Lots of dump runs from here.

No I did not do this all alone my daughter was here all last week and she is a cleaning machine who kicked my butt to get this done . Matt came and helped to move the volume of stuff and set up the baby goat pens today. Adam came out and fixed the vacuum pump for my milker so I am back to a quiet system that I forgot how much nicer it is to not having the walls rattle from the older pump (he even came on his birthday to do this). I am so grateful for all the help you all are awesome and I love you all.

This coming week is the last week I have before the Eagle River Farmers Market starts so I have lots to do, tomorrow I need to run milk samples to marshfield, tuesday I am doing an interview for a dairy news article, dump runs, and pressure washing, wednesday I need to bake bread for an order but will wash the last wall in the cheese plant, thursday I am taking a day to do house stuff and maybe a nap, friday I am going to pressure wash the milk house and parlor, saturday i am going to celebrate my grandsons first birthday, and sunday is chicken coop and goat barn cleaning day.

I will not be at market on Saturday See you all on May 6th in Eagle River for the opening of the Summer Market
