Ranger has his favorite thing in the world back! He absolutely loves his little chicks, so much so that he has a-woo'd himself out of a voice! 🤣 He worries about them constantly and it is the reason he wakes up every day with a pep in his step.

We couldn't raise chickens properly without his help. Stay tuned for fresh meat birds coming the first week of August! (No not these ones 🤣)

Time for new pastures! We rotate our sheep every 3-4 days and while the grasses look short they are about 9-12 inches tall and pack a nutritional punch for our sheepies.

Doing grass fed lamb means lots of pasture walks, plant knowledge, and measuring in the mornings. Now it's Jenn's favorite way to start the day (and of course a tankard of coffee).

It's honey time! Get ready for some awesome spring honey, we'll be harvesting here over the next few days and it will be available in no time. We'll have it up on our online store www.saptapfarms.com, we ship or you can come to us!

That also means our farmers markets will have it available as well! Find us Saturdays at Geneva 8-1 and the Windmill 8-4:30

We don't have to tell you it has been brutally hot but we do have to tell you our sheepies are doing OK! We brought their trailer with them through pasture rotation this week and made them a super sweet and classy awning from an old tarp.

We won't have honey harvested this week because we can't spin and bottle honey if we had a heat stroke, this week was too hot for our suits and the way we separate bees from the supers would kill our bees from lack of ventilation. We're so close to having honey!

Hang in there everyone!

All jokes aside we stash our freezer with berries, peaches, and plums for the long winter. We have a small patch but once we share it between humans, doggies, and sheepies, to we need to go pick some for the winter!

We don't have specific goals and I used to make tons of jams but Dutch babies and sometimes just warmed strawberries on ice cream hits the spot. Sometimes we devour them in strawberry salads especially with basil, watermelon, and cherries.

On deck we have black raspberries from our hedgerows, can't wait! We snagged these strawberries from Tomion (we always forget so call it Tomatillo farms) Farms just outside of Penn Yan for $4/qt

Come find us every Saturday 8-1 for your fresh options! We have what we have while we have it which means we are growing within our means for us and for the animals.

We are so thankful to be a part of this growing community and cannot express enough how many people show up each week to support their local farmers.

If you're looking for wool pellets, it's not too late to plant. Fun fact you can plant fall crops straight up through August. We will be at the Geneseo Homesteaders Expo Saturday June 6th all day

In addition to our happy freedom ranger broilers we introduce the tub of clearance chickens from . These newbies will be pure lawn ornaments with a heft dose of laughter, turns out we didn't want to like chickens but with Rangers enthusiasm we are falling in love with raising poultry including 2 guinea hens in this bunch.

For our whole broilers check us out or pick out your frozen bird at saptapfarms.com coming later this week! You can pick up at the farm or Saturdays 8-1

When there are sheep, it doesn't matter what you are doing, you have your own little posse. They help with all things whether you need it or not, even if it's cleaning a chicken stall to get ready for the next batch of chickens! There's never a dull moment around here

The best part of the Cornell Cooperative Ithaca Plant Sale are all the treasures we come home with. We welcomed a new peach, a limburtis apple, and 7- yes 7 paw-paw trees.
The dogs were pawsitively helpful with this adventure, resulting in an immediate nap before the mouse watch begins.

We struggle with mice killing our trees so we will be wrapping or painting the trunks to help deter them. We have informed our raptor friends they have new trees to protect.
