The girls keep squawking, “What the cluck?! Where is Spring and the green grass?” I keep telling them it’s just around the corner; it’s coming!

Even with the remnants of brown grass from last season, they are getting outside, spreading their wings, and enjoying the warmer weather. Plus, they are back to work laying those beautiful, delicious Overlook Farms eggs.

Holiday Cookie Swap and Food Drive

When: Sunday, December 15, 2024

Time: 1:00 - 3:00 PM

Where: Branchwater Farms, 818 Salisbury Turnpike, Red Hook, NY

Celebrate the end of a wonderful year with Slow Food Hudson Valley! Join us for a cookie swap and food drive hosted by Branchwater Farms. All non-perishable food and hygiene products collected during this event will be donated to Rhinebeck Reformed Church’s Food Pantry. We hope to see you there!

EVENT DETAILS:

This event is FREE- bring 2 to 3 dozen cookies to swap and items for the food drive!

FOOD PANTRY IMMEDIATE NEEDS ARE:

Rice: brown/white in 1-pound bags
Cans of water-packed chicken breast
Cans of tuna
Shelf-stable milk: 8-ounce for kids
Fresh milk: half-gallons (regular, lactose-free, almond, or soy milk)
Evaporated canned milk
Soup: vegetarian and other
Pasta, cereal, crackers
Gluten-free products: in addition to rice
HYGIENE ITEMS:

Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Dental floss
Shampoo & conditioner
Deodorant

Hawthorne Valley Farm host Slow Food Hudson Valley for Fall Gleaning, to benefit local food bank and free fridges and Farm Tour. RSVP in the link in our bio.

This is a hands-on experience in the vegetable production fields of Hawthorne Valley Farm as we learn about what the land offers us at this time of year, and how there is still bounty for all to enjoy. A farm tour and light fare comprised of Hawthorne Valley breads and cheeses will round out what is sure to be a beautiful Autumn day! A minimum donation of $15 is suggested for Slow Food members and $20 for non-members. Proceeds from this event will go to Long Table Harvest, a local food rescue and redistribution organization.

Save the date for the Slow Food Hudson Valley Pasture Walk and Explore a Hudson Valley Family Dairy Farm

When: Saturday, September 14, 2024

Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Where: Chaseholm Farm

Join us for an interactive pasture walk at Chaseholm Farm, one of the few remaining small family dairies in Dutchess County. The walk, led by third-generation farmer Sarah Chase, will start at 1:00 PM. Sarah will guide us through regenerative and climate-supportive agriculture and share insights into running a small family farm. You will have an opportunity to taste their nutrient-dense raw milk from their grass-fed herd and cheese made on the farm. A minimum donation of $15 is suggested for Slow Food members and $20 for non-members..
