Eileen Blake's Pies and Otherwise 508-457-1534 In the summer of 1973, there was a bumper crop of island blueberries. Our family was allowed on a property in Chilmark to pick as many as we could.

We had six sets of hands picking, and ended up with an overabundance of blueberries. We decided to set up a card table on the side of the road and sell the extras. A man came to buy blueberries, but he didn't want them fresh, he wanted a pie. Eileen's theory always was if you're making one you might as well make a dozen. Those first pies sold so quickly that it made her realize that she could share her love of baking and support her family.
