Buy the ugly horse.
Buy the horse with the big Roman nose, the odd swishy walk, the chunk missing from her mane and half her tail (thanks to her foal or an overly affectionate pasture buddy). Buy that cheap horse as a broodmare, hoping maybe—*maybe*—she’ll succeed where three years of failed breeding for your husband’s beloved warmblood have led to heartbreak. Buy her to be a recip and tell yourself you can put a decent foundation on her, and if it doesn’t work out, you’ll find her a safe and loving home.
Buy the goofy-looking horse.
But don’t be surprised when you discover that underneath that Roman nose and those soft, sweet eyes… there’s something truly special.
Buy the middle-aged cart horse.
Because you don’t know yet that she’s a diamond in the rough.
You don’t know that she’ll become your toddler’s new buddy — gentle, patient, and kind in all the ways that matter. You don’t know she’s already broke to ride. You don’t know she might turn out to be a freakishly talented jumper once she finds her sea legs. You don’t know she’ll bring you closer to friends as you hand over the reins and watch an incredible partnership take shape right in front of you.
You don’t know she might blow up the internet and steal the hearts of *literally* hundreds of thousands of people around the world.
Sometimes a failed dream turns into something different—unexpected, beautiful, and absolutely extraordinary.
So buy the ugly horse.
Because she might just become so much more than you ever hoped for.
