We’re so excited to welcome everyone back to the farm for another fall season!

Opening Day — Saturday, September 19
Come spend the day with us and enjoy everything we love about fall on the farm:

Our Fall Season Hours will be Saturdays & Sundays, 10 AM–6 PM, beginning September 19.

Three days of pumpkins, hayrides, food, drinks, family activities and fall on the farm.

🌻 We have some exciting news—we’re back at the roadside stand!

As many of you know, flowers at Fry Farm started in 2021 with a simple roadside stand. After taking a little break from roadside sales, we’re so excited to once again have fresh-cut flowers available by the road—and our dahlias are starting to bloom!

Stop by today for a fresh-cut bouquet or a few beautiful sunflowers. We even have some farm-fresh veggies stocked in the stand! Supplies are limited, so grab them while you can.

🌾 Throwback Thursday 🌾

While most people know the iconic barn at Fry Farm, many don’t realize that what we call Fry Farm today is actually made up of three historic farmsteads that together form the Fry’s Hamlet Historic District.

Today’s photo is of the Spencer-Fry Farm, then known as the William & Lydia Fry Vaughn Farm. The enormous barn pictured here measured 50’ × 100’ and was one of the defining landmarks of Fry’s Hamlet.

On September 21, 1938, the Great New England Hurricane tore through Rhode Island with devastating force. This barn was destroyed in the storm, forever changing the landscape of Fry’s Hamlet. While the barn was lost, the land itself has remained in agricultural use for generations.

Just to the north is the Spencer-Bailey Farm, where my great-grandparents, Francis and Iva Bailey, farmed, and where my grandparents, Rodney and Judy Bailey, continued that tradition. Today, my Uncle Paul Bailey continues to farm all three farmsteads, growing hay and corn and raising cows. I love watching my own children grow up on the same land where I did, and where my mom and grandfather did before me.

The Joseph Fry Farm, the property most people know today as Fry Farm, was home to Marion and Dorothy Fry, whose dedication to preserving the farm, along with the work of my Great Aunt Gladys Bailey helped preserve the photographs, family history, and genealogy that allow us to share stories like this today.
