This weekend’s project — fencing off another half acre of our farm and letting the sheep do their thing!
As far as we can tell, our property was most likely farmed back in the late 1700’s to late 1800’s. Over time, areas have been reclaimed by brush and woods (generally with invasive species such as bittersweet, mugwort, and… yes, wineberry).
This spring we received a grant from UConn to practice regenerative farming. That means using livestock to clear brush and turn it back into pasture for future farming use — no chemicals, no fertilizer. Just a group of Katahdin sheep doing what they were born to do.
The ladies of Wineberry Farm are taking their job very seriously!
