Scientists are our heroes 🧪 fascinating breakthrough towards zero emission power. Heat and electricity as an industry currently produce 31% of global emissions as energy production itself represents a shocking 73% of all emissions (C4CE). Thank you for making information digestible

Most regenerative arguments are missing one key point: it comes down to Supply & Demand. Is regenerative farming something you believe in? Is it something you can afford? If so, do the work and show these farmers you value these practices by supporting them. If not, start a fight in the comments.

Understanding the other person's perspective will radically increase your chances of having a civil conversation even with topics as complicated as climate change.

The issue of climate change has received so much attention in recent years that it has become difficult for interested citizens and policymakers to separate facts from fiction. Climate change is one of the most cutting edge research fields in modern science, and we must be patient to protect its validity.

We're destroying our farmland - but there is a solution. Regenerative agriculture can restore degraded soil allowing us to farm on it once again. With everybody talking about shortages of land for farming maybe we should consider rejuvenating what we've already used.

Research has shown that land degradation has had, and will have, severe impacts on crop production and supply chains in Africa. Regenerative agriculture has been found to be an important part of the solution. A report commissioned by IUCN and the UNFCCC High Level Champions and steered by a working group of African partners ahead of Climate COP26 in Glasgow provides compelling, quantitative evidence of the positive impacts of regenerative agricultural practices. This report presents the case for regenerative agriculture to play a key role within broader land restoration activities and its potential to benefit smallholder farmers, business and society. It demonstrates the benefits of a transition to practices such as agroforestry and soil management as methods to boost yields, improve human nutrition and livelihoods, supporting soil and ecosystem health. The report also looks ahead with detailed forecasts up to the year 2040.

WHAT IS REGENERATIVE AG? -----

“Regenerative Agriculture” describes farming and grazing practices that, among other benefits, reverse climate change by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity – resulting in both carbon drawdown and improving the water cycle

We need to fix a system that is created to maximize profits and sacrifice quality. BUT OUR PLANET BEARS THIS COST. We believe in regenerative agriculture to achieve peak nutrition & reverse the effects of climate change. Conventional agriculture renders farmland unusable and if we demand regenerative food companies will provide. This means sourcing from farms that focus on the soil. Here's a few regenerative farms we like...

Since the industrial revolution, humans have unleashed 880,000,000 tons of the greenhouse gas carbon into the atmosphere (and counting). Conventional agriculture is a top contributor of such GHGs. Oceans absorb 30% of our atmospheric carbon, leading to ocean acidification — accelerating a mass extinction of life below the surface.

Not only that. Unhealthy soils lack in ability to absorb and filter water, leading to more erosion, runoff, and polluted water toxifying our waterways and the life within.

How? Vast quantities of manufactured feed. Significant external inputs of synthetic fertilizer. Powering crowded factory farming operations with heating, lighting, and ventilation. Animal waste.

In regenerative, pasture-raised operations, cows and other animals play a key role in moving nutrients (aka: manure!) throughout the system. This leads to more fertile soil, the basis of healthy ecosystems and carbon sequestration. Livestock graze pastures and sometimes cover crops for food, reducing reliance on intensively-grown grain feed. And they spend more time outdoors, reducing energy inputs needed to run an operation!

Regenerative agriculture increases water retention by 20,000 gallons for each 1% of soil organic matter increased.

So do the math on California's water systems, accounting for the % increase of organic matter from regen ag.

It's statistics like this which really blow all of our minds. While the goal of a better food system isn't just to save our water supply, it's shocking to predict how much water we could be saving in addition to the energy needed to transport that water.
