Priscilla is still with us, but I can’t say she is much better. She refuses water and food, and still hurting so much she can’t stand up.

Im hoping she can heal enough to have the energy to try and drink and eat, but that’s hard to do without drinking and eating.

I was at least able to take her out out of the box and lay her flat and she has at least calmed down quite a bit from yesterday. So at least 🙏❤️

Something attacked my Priscilla inside their area. R***r is out, and injuries are consistent with a bird of prey. I did hear a commotion out hear followed by R***r shortly barking but he stopped relatively quickly.

It seems he stopped quick because the bird dropped her, she was right next to Rugies area,, but he dropped her into the E-netting. When I saw she was all tangled I shut it down immediately, and I quickly untangled her, and held her to my heart as she cried to me for a long time.

Guys, I been at this a long time, I’ve experience a LOT, but this chicken means so much to me, and seeing her injured in the fence, seeing her fully succumb to the pain she was feeling everywhere, hearing her crying and now watching her unable to get up, and just totally still as her body and psyche processes the pain and hurt…. I’m not ok 😞 at all.

I put her in this nest box just to stabilize her, as she panics if I put her down and starts moving uncontrollably. The box gives her a sense of security so she can hopefully decompress and start to heal. If she can heal 💔

Say a prayer for Priscilla 🙏

The less than glorious side of owning livestock 😅

Cleaning day!!

As I rearrange pens and set up the Homestead, I’m going to be designing stalls and shelters, so that they can be cleared out with a tractor, not a shovel, pitchfork and wheelbarrow!! because at 46 this work is going to quickly become very unsustainable, and let’s face it. I’m going to need a hip replacement at some point in the near future. So,, yeaaaa 😂

Ohhhhh my GOoOSSHHH.

I am so excited for this girl!!!

This, friends, is P**a!! She is a registered Icelandic ewe sheep hailing from Grinsteiner Farm, set to arrive the end of August/ early September!! I cannot thank them enough!! (also photo credit goes to them as well!)

Isn’t she gorgeous!! She’s coming in her baby fleece too 😍. And check out her dams udder. Icelandics are known for triple purpose, milk, meat and fleece and I couldn’t be happier to add this girl to my flock!

I will be bringing in a registered Icelandic ram this fall, and potentially a very dairy ram friend (but I’m trying to convince myself I really only need ONE boy right now!).

For all you new folks, and possibly some that aren’t so new, I wanted to take a quick minute to introduce ourselves 🙂.

Hi! I’m Sarah, I run this crazy little Homestead, generate most of the crazy ideas and generally manage what’s happening (generally!).

I have two handsome and very capable boys, Jonah to the right and Jadey, to the left and my right hand girl, my daughter Josie. These three are my world, and are farm kids with a modern twist. I say modern twist because I’ve never forced them to be on the farm or do things here. Animals and homesteading are my passions, they are allowed to have their own. But they have all grown up on a farm and don’t remember life without one!

Jonah is the male version of me but without the farming passion, Jadey is a CC of his dad and Josie… Josie is an exact replica, miniature version of me alllllll the way. Hahaha.

So now you have faces when I say the boys or my girl
