The bees are officially ready for winter. With the freezing temps coming at night the liquid syrup has been removed and a board of just plain sugar has been put on top. The bees should have plenty of honey for the winter to feed on. The sugar though will be a supplement in case they begin to run out plus it will absorb any moisture in the hive. We also gave them a little bit of a windbreak. Now just hoping and praying they make it through the winter!

Meet Reya.

We hired her today! She is a 3-year-old jersey. Since Bessie is taking some time off due to pregnancy issues, Reya will be filling in. She just calved and is super healthy and very qualified.

A hive inspection was finally able to be done. Life has just been too hectic on top of the weather not cooperating on the time I have free! The hives are looking wonderful. Unfortunately though there will be no honey this year since we had to start fresh this year.

Holy moly that was a wild one last night. Thought for sure I'd have enough time to get down and milk Miley and get back up to the house. Boy was I wrong! Such a welcoming soak!
