An update from Azealia Acres ๐Ÿ’”

Hurricane Isaias destroyed so much, and weโ€™re feeling overwhelmed and defeated by everything that still needs to be done.

We lost all the peanut hay we had just bought for Miss Honey for the winter. Sheโ€™s pregnant and due to calve any day, so losing her hay has been especially hard.

Part of our pole barnโ€™s metal roof blew off, and fallen trees have taken down the fencing around our largest paddock and grazing area. These trees are more than our chainsaws can handle. Eric has already ruined a blade trying to clear them.

A tree also fell into the pig pen, but thankfully the pigs are still contained. Our screened porch roof collapsed too, although Eric thinks he can repair it.

Weโ€™re so grateful to our neighbor Dave for helping remove one of the trees from the fence. That help meant so much to us. โค๏ธ

We could still really use help with the larger trees, clearing the fencing, roof repairs, or finding replacement peanut hay for Miss Honey. If you have equipment, time, or a helpful local contact, please reach out.

Eric is also going to help my dad with his roof while we juggle everything here. My dad has to return his rental van on Monday, which adds another deadline to an already stressful week. ๐Ÿ˜ž

We know so many others are struggling too. Thank you to everyone who has checked on us, helped, or kept our family and farm in your prayers. Weโ€™re taking it one day at a time. ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿšœ๐ŸŒพ Important information for our farm community!

As we recover from the storm, please document your losses and reach out about assistance. USDA has disaster assistance programs that may help eligible farmers and livestock owners recover.

Ask your local USDA Farm Service Agency office about assistance for damaged farmland and fencing, debris removal, livestock losses, and eligible hay or feed losses. Program availability, eligibility, and deadlines vary, so report your losses promptly and ask about requirements before starting major repairs.

๐Ÿ“ธ Take photos and videos, make a detailed damage list, and save receipts, repair estimates, and livestock or feed records.

๐Ÿก With property tax bills arriving soon, please also report storm damage to the Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser. Include damage to homes, barns, roofs, fencing, and other property improvements so the office can review how it affects your assessment.

Reporting damage does not automatically reduce this yearโ€™s bill, but it helps keep future assessments accurate. If your home is uninhabitable for at least 30 days because of the disaster, ask about the separate catastrophic event property tax refund. For qualifying damage occurring in 2026, the application deadline is March 1, 2027. Continue paying your property taxes on time while pursuing relief.

Please share with your neighbors and fellow farmers. We are all carrying a lot right now, and knowing where to ask for help can make a difference. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’š

An update from Azealia Acres and Milton Corgis ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

Our family is safe for now, but our area has suffered severe storm damage, and power may be out for a week or two. The kids and I are currently in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, while Eric remains at home.
Everyone is safe ๐Ÿพ ๐Ÿ„ ๐Ÿฐ

Please direct all messages and questions to me, Ashlee, and avoid calling or messaging Eric so he can conserve his phone battery. We need to keep that line open to stay in contact with him.

Replies may be delayed as we navigate everything. Iโ€™ll share updates as Iโ€™m able. Thank you for your patience, support, and prayers for our family, farm, and community. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ
