It's pruning season at the Peck Farm Orchard. Hand pruning 4,000 trees is a lot of work but it beats being in the office. This time of year we have the opportunity to check on tree health. We have little to no winter damage and the rodents only chewed on a few trees. Every time I see an old birds nest from last year or an early season mushroom I smile. It means our orchard is a healthy place for a diverse amount of flora and fauna. Toads are waking up, new bird species arrive every day and the native pollinators are cruising our abundant supply of dandelions. It was an extra special treat to come across this beautiful scene. The rest of the tree will have to wait to be pruned so we don't damage the eggs. Happy spring everyone and thank you for being such dedicated customers. The birds and the bees thank you as well.
