After 9 Years, It’s Time to Say Goodbye
After nine incredible years, I’ve made the very difficult decision to close Hungry Bird Eats.
What started as a small idea in my kitchen grew into something far bigger than I ever imagined. Over the years, we lost our kitchen space entirely and somehow rebuilt it from the ground up in another state. We navigated COVID, supply chain disruptions, staffing challenges, and all the ups and downs that come with running a small food business.
In recent years, our biggest challenge became our production space. Our lease was only six months at a time, with no option for renewal. We were able to renew it a few times, but the constant uncertainty made it impossible to plan ahead responsibly — especially with packaging lead times months out and rising costs and tariffs adding pressure.
At the end of 2024, when our final shipment of packaging arrived, I quietly decided it would be our last. We used 2025 to sell through inventory and officially ended production on December 31, 2025.
This year has been about closing down — selling equipment and slowly saying goodbye to the kitchen that held years of early mornings, late nights, and more seeds than I can count. It has been both emotional and surreal to watch a once fully equipped kitchen turn into an almost empty room, leaving almost no traces of everything that happened there.
I’m proud of what we created — award-winning products, pallets stacked and ready to go, expanding into a bigger space, and sending orders to every state. It started as a small idea and grew into something I once only imagined.
Most importantly, I had an amazing team by my side. They worked hard to meet the growing demand and chose to see this through with me. I’m so grateful for each of them. And to my friends who supported me both publicly and behind the scenes — especially .mms, and of course my family — thank you. Your encouragement truly meant a lot.
Thank you for believing in Hungry Bird Eats and for sharing our Nordic-inspired crisps and granola with your families. I’ll always be grateful for that.
With love,
Tina
