If you haven’t heard, tomorrow is the opening day for the Caledonia Food Co-op in downtown St J! We are so excited and appreciative of all the people who have worked tirelessly to bring this community store to life!
If you haven’t joined our email list, here is a snippet of the update from our board chair, Pete Schweigert!
“This is truly an exciting time as we near the opening of our store next week on July 8! Construction is all but finished and equipment has been installed, the coolers and shelves are being filled with product, and – most significantly – hiring is almost complete. Suffice to say that we on the board are more than excited and grateful to the creative, energetic, and experienced staff who have now stepped in to take on the task of realizing this dream and shaping what the Co-op will become as an operational store!”
“At this moment, I’d like to take a minute to step back and give us all the chance to appreciate what we have done together, and how extraordinary this accomplishment is! Success in this effort to organize, plan, fund, and execute a new food co-op in St J was never guaranteed – far from it, in fact. This was an ambitious project! But here we are, at the cusp of opening day on schedule and on budget. Trust me when I say that we would not have made it to this point without you, without the incredible support of this community. From the board and the store staff, THANK YOU ALL!”
“We are all excited to see how the store helps to make our local community and economy stronger, healthier, and more resilient, and it will continue taking all of us for this to happen.”
