The Stables

The Stables The Stables farm sits on just over 100 acres between Oscoda and Tawas, just 10 miles from Lake Huron and the Au Sable River. A peaceful escape.

The best part about going to the farm this season has been watching the littles in our lives enjoy being here. We have really embraced the “kids and clothes are washable” mindset and it’s allowed me to stress less and given them the freedom to explore more. 🩵🩵🩵

No music necessary when you are surrounded by bees buzzing. 😉

Our bee hives have been busy this year! We lost one hive this winter, but Northern Michigan Honeybee Veterinary Services was able to split the one that survived, so both hives are thriving.

Each group of guests who stay at the farm are gifted a small jar of honey from our farm to enjoy. The hives sit close to the farmhouse, but far enough away where the bees are not disturbed. Thankfully honey bees are pretty docile overall and we often work next to eachother while working and even cutting in the garden.

We love having these little fuzzy friends buzzing around the farm. 🖤 💛 🖤

The past few summers were all about growing babies and a little less about flowers and farm projects.

This season it’s been fun to bring those littles along and also grow some flowers again. Truthfully, it’s been nice to spend so much time at the farm this spring and summer. I wasn’t sure I’d see this garden thrive again. Turns out it’s even better when you have a couple “helpers” to join in.

The farmhouse has been open for guests and we’re excited to host more families for the second half of summer. We do still have some availability for August and into the fall — link in stories for booking.

We’ve been tackling some projects at the farm this season that are definitely changing the outdoor space.
We’ve been sharing about these in our stories, but will post an update as well at some point.

Every spring I fall in love with the view out of this barn door all over again. The green, lush landscape that spring builds matches the excitement for summer. My absolute favorite thing about June at the farm is how green it is. Everything feels rich in life.

The daffodils have been fun to cut these past few weeks. They have become my favorite spring flower next to lilacs. Apple blossoms are in bloom. Morels are popping up in the field.

We have a few projects planned out here this summer and of course we have guests coming to stay at the farm, which is always a treat.

I’ll make an attempt to grow some flowers in this space that I love so much.

All with two little tag alongs reminding us that the journey is the point of it all.

We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday weekend!
