I am absolutely terrible about taking unboxings! I’m always so excited to get everything opened and see what’s inside that I completely forget. 😂

But I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to express my gratitude to Savanna River Farm!

I recently had the opportunity to add Ms. TuTu to my flock, and I was incredibly nervous because she would need to be shipped. I had never had a chicken shipped before, and I had a million questions. Savanna River Farm was so kind, patient, and reassuring throughout the entire process. She answered every question I threw at her and helped ease all of my worries. I even received tracking information and GPS updates so I could follow Ms. TuTu’s journey every step of the way. (Even when I couldn’t get it to work myself, she was always happy to share updates!)

Ms. TuTu arrived safe, sound, and absolutely beautiful. The shipping box was adorable, the extras were thoughtful, and Ms. TuTu herself is simply stunning. She even came with a little stowaway and some EGGstra goodies. 🥚💕

One of my favorite parts of this Silkie journey has been meeting so many wonderful people who share the same passion. Savanna River Farm is definitely one of those special people.

This!!

Gonna drop a reminder to OHIO it’s gonna be upper 80’s today!!!

Spraying/misting silkies/chickens (any bird but waterfowl) with water to “cool them off” wets their dense furry feathers, eliminating their ability to get airflow, traps heat and heats them up even more…… resist the urge to do this practice!!!

What “feels good” to humans kills chickens. Their internal body temperature is normally 105-106 degrees, let’s not cook our pets today please.

Help them by providing:

~SHADE
~FRESH WATER
~ AIRFLOW (fans)

All of the above prevents heatstroke in chickens.
Let’s have a safe hot summer day folks. Be kind and helpful not mean and hateful.

As an aside, Ducks and geese or other waterfowl can’t get enough water, go ahead and spray those suckers like it’s watersports day at summer camp!!!!
