Occasionally I like to experiment with different products. While our ready to eat smoked sausage is popular, I decided to make a different sausage when we processed the last pig. I made a maple breakfast type sausage. It has the same high quality pork but with a hint of maple. This is not ready to eat since it isn’t smoked .

Recent years have brought an awareness of how our food impacts our health. I believe that our food should be for healing and not for poisoning our body. There is a plethora of information on seed oils, food coloring, corn syrup etc., substances that may poison our body.

However there is a more insidious poison that is destorying us. It comes not from food but from poisons that take root in our psyche and affect us even more negatively than dangerous foods. It takes a variety of forms. Bitterness and unforgiveness toward those who have violated us poisons our soul. Politics and the tribal emphasis on "our side" poisons our ability to see clearly. Fear causes us to make irrational decisions, freely relinquishing the rights given by God. Social media has amplified the words of the gossiper that go deep into the soul causing anxiety.

I am convinced that we are heading into a time of great societal upheaval and chaos. The key to thriving in chaos begins inside of us. True peace is not a set of favorable external circumstances. True peace comes from detoxing from the negative poisons that we ingest in our soul. Our mind needs to be clear, our actions need to be calm. Take care of your inner person first before focusing on external prepping. Life in the midst of chaos will become much easier if you do.

I had a meeting with some of the rodent control team here at the farm this morning. He is a big boy. A neighbor walking past thought at first that it was a rattlesnake because of the girth. Our meeting went well.
