To our loyal supporters and community —
We want to clear up some confusion regarding today’s schedule change involving the Stephanie Tubbs Jones event.
This was not a last-minute safety concern discovered today. Earlier this week, on Wednesday, after discussions with our trusted mechanics regarding our transmission concerns, we notified the event directors that we did not feel comfortable making the longer trip into Cleveland until repairs are completed next week. Both directors completely understood the situation and were very professional throughout the process.
While the truck is currently operating for short local travel, our mechanics specifically advised that the furthest distance they felt comfortable with at the moment would be around the Beachwood area until repairs are completed. Because of that recommendation, we made the responsible decision not to risk the longer Cleveland trip. Safety will always remain our #1 priority — for our crew, our equipment, and the public.
For transparency, this transmission issue was something already present when the vehicle was originally turned over to us during the build process. While the repair was ultimately not completed at that time, we have taken full responsibility for addressing it properly and already have repairs scheduled for next week. As a small business, situations like this can be challenging, but we believe handling them responsibly and safely is what matters most.
The appearance today at Anthony’s was a separate, last-minute opportunity that came together last night after another local concert event was canceled due to weather. Given the close proximity to our base facility, we felt comfortable safely operating there. Like any small business, when an opportunity arises locally and safely, we still have to work and generate income for our team and business operations.
We understand some people were disappointed, and we never enjoy canceling or adjusting events. Those who support us know how seriously we take showing up for our community. We are already planning to work with the Stephanie Tubbs Jones directors on rescheduling once repairs are completed and we have full confidence in the truck’s mechanical reliability for longer-distance travel.
We appreciate everyone who continues supporting CLE Craves and Chef T Culinary Services as we continue growing and navigating the realities of operating a small business and food truck.
