🚨 Eastland County: Our Neighbors Need Us Now. 🚨

A government shutdown has put essential food assistance at risk, and the worry is real for many families right here in our community. But in Eastland, we don't stand by when our neighbors face hardship.

That’s why we are launching EASTLAND FEEDS EASTLAND – a powerful, county-wide response to ensure no one in our community goes hungry this month.

This is our moment to act. Together, we can fill the gap. Join our food drive initiative from November 10th to December 10th benefiting the Eastland County Food Pantry. During this month, we are also raising awareness for the other food assistance organizations in the county.

Here’s how you can help build a safety net of hope:

🥫 DONATE: Starting November 10 and lasting until December 10, bring hope and nourishment to our neighbors. Drop off non-perishable food items at our first official drop-off locations:
Page Outdoors on Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm.
Eastland County Crisis Center, Inc. Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. (Drops can be made by their mail box or press the intercom button on the yellow pole for staff to assist)

🏢HOST: Can your business or organization become a hub of generosity? Become a drop-off spot! It's simple, and we'll make sure the community knows you're helping. (Message us!)

📢SHARE: Amplify our call to action! Tell your friends, family, and networks. The more who know, the more families we can help.

This is more than a food drive; it's our community in action. It’s proof that when challenges arise, Eastland rises to meet them—with compassion, resilience, and unwavering support for one another.

We are already seeing our community spirit shine! A huge thank you to our first heroes: Page Outdoors for stepping up as our first drop-off site and Tina's and Urban Bloom Co. for supplying the collection tubs!

Let's come together and show everyone what Eastland County can do.

A few months ago, the Alliance posted a call of action for the Eastland County Food Pantry and this community responded with an amazing roar of donations of money and food, and volunteers! Today, we decided to do a follow-up with our friends there to see what impact the community had since that call of action.

While the executive director, Patty Cole, has expressed a deep gratitude to those that showed up and supported the pantry, times have only gotten more difficult. Food prices are steadily increasing, utility bills have gone up, insurance costs have also increased. More money is needing to be spent to keep these doors open.

On top of the rising costs, an upward trend of individuals seeking assistance from the pantry continues. Since the last time we met with Patty, the pantry has been averaging 400 individuals per month, or better put 100 individuals per week. They are seeing 40+ families per week, sometimes seeing 50!

To understand the extent of things, the pantry buys 75% or more of their food items which comes out to about 6,000 dollars a month on food alone. 25% or less of their food items are donated!

How can we help?
- Volunteers: While there is a solid and amazing group of volunteers helping out, the pantry could use more assistance on Fridays.

-Food Donations: Eggs, Mac and Cheese, Crackers, Peanut butter and Jelly, etc are some sought after items! You don't need to donate name brand stuff, generic stuff works just as well! The more food donated, the less the pantry needs to spend on food!

-Monetary Donations: The pantry heavily relies on money to keep their doors open, from bills to food costs. Checks can be mailed to The Eastland County Food Pantry at 105 East Olive. Even 10 dollars goes a long way!

-Food Drives: The Alliance is calling on businesses and organizations to host food drives for the food pantry throughout the year. The more organizations involved bringing awareness and visibility to the pantry, the more supported this heavily necessary organization will be.
