Before gas prices skyrocketed, one of my goals for this summer was to take our 6 year old on a few road trips and adventures to visit friends and explore new places.
With gas being how it is, that dream is pretty dashed. I am spending $300 extra every month just to get him to and from school every day, so a 1400 mile road trip on a goat farmer-writer's salary is pretty unaffordable.
Unless...
Could I cash in some content creator clout?
3 of our destinations are Gulf Shores, Alabama, Raleigh, NC and Richmond VA and, due to the flexibility in scheduling as a goat farmer-writer, the dates can be really flexible.
My current thoughts are it would be really fun to meet some of you. Maybe in coffee shops or book stores. I would love to do some readings and work on some material I would like to incorporate into my stand-up routines but, due to traveling with my son, won't be able to do the typical bar and night club gigs. Want me to toast your wedding/retirement party/Grand Opening? I'm there!
So, if I could find places along my route that would let me do little gigs to pay for the gas up and down the coast, LFP could see new things and, my favorite, I could meet some of you!
Maybe some of you own little businesses that would want to host and get a little traffic and new customers. Maybe there are other content creators I could meet along the way and collab with.
This is all a very, very loose concept, but it's not going to happen if I don't start the conversation. So, what do ya'll have idea wise or logistically?
