This could be the last moments of the field and while we survived last weeks dip into the 30s, I am taking in the last moments. It feels bittersweet to want to go into hibernation soon but not feel done. Are we ? I’m happy with our oilseed radish cover crop to rejuvenate the soil for next season!

Farm stand is open this weekend with the last bits of the season- flowers, pumpkins, peppers, honey and eggs!

While we are crossing our fingers for no frost tomorrow, we still have all of October to appreciate the beauty of autumn on our farm. We hope to see you at our farm, especially for Storytime on the farm with Quogue Wildlife Refuge who is bringing a special visitor to the farm.

Autumn has come in with strong wind, but we still have flowers, produce and eggs as long as the weather holds up this week. I’m still not sure how this storm will be but we have goods to make your home cheery and smell nice while you cook!

There was a moment today that I actually cried when our driveway was being done and it felt like such a huge release. I sat and reread the cover story of the Greater Westhampton Neighbor’s and cried too, but dug into myself as to why I was crying. It was happy tears that finally came.

Farming is hard, but we have had so many highlights of this season and there’s a reason we have got here. There was a moment I was burnt out and couldn’t put a finger on them, I was frustrated at that block but this is the condensed version of how thankful I am and that all came out today.

Burn out is real for every small business owner, take care of yourself. ❤️

Can’t believe it’s another season a little bit more moved into our farm at 33 N Bay Ave, Eastport. Our farmstand moved this year to where it should be- our farm. This is the start to something wonderful. This season weather wise has been a challenge, but this field despite its wild nature and feeling like I’m gambling, consistently fills my heart. As we celebrate the season with our staff today, I feel the need to celebrate our wins while appreciating our solutions to the challenges we faced this season. This farm is a work in progress but I’m excited for more. Most of all- there are eggs, veggies, and most importantly… flowers.

Each Sunday, designing for myself has slowly been a way for me to love flowers all over again. The farm can be overwhelming throughout the season and as the season slows down you can feel nature getting quieter too. I can’t help but want to embrace that as it helps me slow down, my brain quiets down and helps me back to where it all started. It becomes something for me, to play and not search for perfection.

While bold colors aren’t always my favorite, my Oma’s vase and the yellow sunflowers drew me. I hope you find some time to hear the crickets or thunder tonight.

This year, we worked on bringing more eggs to the farm. It’s been a journey since January, with a lot of work by our staff, Tommy, and friends. Tommy found a wild idea about camper coops and I thought he was crazy at first but the chickens have settled in and the camper has cleaned up her act with fresh paint. This was a lot of work from our team, Jonathan, Zoe and Em . We had to clear the thorns, brush and more for them to roam but ensure they were happy hens in a pasture all day long.

This week I’m taking time to reflect on this year as the days of Summer are starting to dwindle and finding gratitude with our wins.
