Orcas Island Winery

Orcas Island Winery Boutique family vineyard & winery destination committed to crafting premium WA state wines. Modern farmhouse & lifestyle shop nestled below Turtleback Mountain.

Born as a family dream, a family winery, Orcas Island Winery continues to thrive - rooted in traditional values of family first, hard work, courage and staying the course. We believe, like wine, life is an art and we welcome you to ours. Founded in 2011, the Schemkes family planted our first grape vines and began to craft some of the finest wines in Washington state. Along the way they experienced

struggles, hardships, some small disasters, and more smiles and laughs than you could shake a stick at. In early 2019, Tera, Wesley and little Winston Landman became the new owners of the island’s only destination winery. Our young, yet mature with business acumen, family bring with them a lifelong vision, creativity, enthusiasm, determination, grit and a strong commitment to community. Orcas Island Winery is proud to partner with some of Washington states oldest and finest vineyards - Kiona, Alder Ridge and Destiny Ridge Vineyards are a few of our incredibly dedicated growers. We are committed to crafting premium Washington wines- offering both red and white varietals. As The Landman Family eagerly move the winery down a new path, we are already seeing a fresh, new approach. They plan to honor traditional wine(s) and winemaking methods while also pushing the creative boundaries into post-modern winemaking and production. As early as Spring 2020, we will start to see a new wine portfolio emerge that reflects a beautiful marriage between the old & the new. A juxtaposition between traditional & modern... where classic meets edgy. Chris Lawler, a local to the San Juan Islands, and an award winning winemaker (via the California and Texas wine industry) joined The Landman Family in Fall 2019 as the team’s lead winemaker. Lawler is decidedly forward thinking and has been committed to increasing the awareness of the San Juan Islands as a food & wine destination for the past handful of years. We aren’t just a winery. We are a place for authentic connection. We believe that wine should be shared with good conversation, delicious food, genuine smiles, lots of heart, art, music and more. Orcas Island Winery is an experience - never to be forgotten. We are nestled at the base of Turtleback Mountain, on Washington's, Orcas Island. Inside our modern farmhouse, you'll find our lifestyle shop and tasting lounge. Outside, you'll enjoy sweeping views, picnic grounds, outdoor games, lounge chairs and simply, the abundance of beauty that is Orcas Island. It's a way of life.

This time of year, when the island transitions from the high energy of the summer season to calming shifts of sun angles and cooler temperatures we all feel a sense of change. This summer carried a lot of weight due to the much appreciated high tourism and the state of the world these days. We want to embrace (and move on from) all that was and what is to be as things shift to fall. It’s time to celebrate the fall equinox! Come on out and join us on Saturday, September 20th for a day of great food, great music and great community out on the winery grounds. Food will be available all day. We feel so fortunate to share the space with some of Orcas Island’s most talented folks! We will have baked good from Brea and Sofia Poe. Cheese samples and cuts available from Julien Adding even more fun vibes from 3-5 pm music by the great Seattle jazz band Accendino .music We all look forward to celebrating with you and making this an annual party🍁

As the season is picking up we have just released our newest wine! 2024 June. This year we made Sauvignon Blanc offering a titch of tropical fruit on the nose and a wonderfully refreshing finish that is the perfect mix of salt and mineral. We will have chèvre available all summer. On Saturdays this summer fresh baguettes from The combination is among the best Orcas has to offer and we couldn’t be more proud to share the goodness. Yummy!

For the past three years, we held the annual winter mercantile formerly called Solstice Mercantile. It has been a joy to help birth the event, hold the space and nurture it with each passing year. It is truly special and remarkable in a way that words do not do justice. It must be felt. The event outgrew us. Our property no longer has the capacity for the demand. But it is still happening - in a way it deserves! No tent! We are happy to see this event fly. ✨ 🦢 This year will be held at the epic TURTLEHEAD FARM on December 7th and 8th with over 40 artisans, makers, chefs and musicians all gathering in the name of beauty, light and community. We will be pouring there 🍷 and … , of course, still has a hand in this. 🪄

will be playing Sunday the 8th at 1pm in addition to many other talented local musicians throughout the weekend.

So now…. MAKERS, ARTISTS, DREAMERS, COMMUNITY… It’s time to FLOCK. 🎁

If you aren’t local, it’s well worth the trip. has special rates. More details

Please join us this Friday evening for Must Gallery’s most noteworthy exhibit to date in
collaboration with HALO:

“Botanical Origins” featuring two widely celebrated and accomplished local artists, painter Susan Singleton and ceramicist, Annie Sparks-Burke. The mixed media art installation opens with a free-to-the-public evening event on Friday, August 16th at 6 PM. Wine and artwork will be available for purchase. The Kitchen will be on site with farm-to-table pan-Asian food available.

The show is deeply reflective of the origin of seeds highlighting an interconnectedness within our natural
world and cosmos. The show explores botanical energy and embraces the beauty in imperfection of the
human hand. The show presents Singleton and
Sparks- Burke in a conceptually driven, highly symbolic, evocative, soothing and mysterious
story rich with the vastness of universal elements at play begging the viewer to surrender to an ethereal sophistication.
The show creatively applauds “wabi-sabi” as a means to elevate the reality around us all-
to transcend and call it home. It presents as a juxtaposition of raw, curious, seemingly simple, inspiring and moving. The exhibition leaves a lingering sense of romance and renewed appreciation for what
is.

Private viewings are available. A portion of proceeds will benefit
