Ja-Bob Heilo Margo SL P Red, milking 99 # per day, 4 1/2 months fresh.

When I started the Heat Tolerance project, I knew I would have to make my own bulls to have an outcross to Sinba. Unlike the major AI studs, I didn’t think inbreeding was the right approach to making a homozygous slick bull. Heilo was our first bull. His daughters have milked very well for us, well beyond what a genomic value would predict.

Margo is the dam of Ja-Bob I Am Marble SL PP Red, the highest slick, red and homozygous polled available in the world. Marbles first IVF session made 10 viable embryos to Hulu RC.

My wife Joy and I recently returned from a mission trip to Eternal Families Tanzania. They have a goal of food security for the 130 children and part of that plan is to produce their own milk. I am being led by God to design and help build a small dairy for the orphanage. I anticipate being in Tanzania for 3-5 months next year, serving as a part-time missionary.

I will be selling my dairy herd on November 10, 2023 in a dispersal to allow me to devote the time needed to accomplish this in 2024.

Have you ever cleaned out a litter box? What about one the size of your bedroom?!

Dairy calves on average can excrete up to 22 lbs of solid waste PER DAY, and up to a gallon of liquid waste. Cows can produce even more, up to 65 lbs of solid waste per day per cow! All of that is recycled and used for fertilizer for crops, or sometimes processed and packed for lawns, garden beds, and general landscaping. We find ways to recycle every day!
