Grateful Roots Farm

Grateful Roots Farm Rooted in gratitude, grown with love.

We are first generation farmers focused on building soil health with seasonal, organically grown vegetables, pasture raised meat & eggs among the forested landscape of Mount Rainier in Eatonville, WA.

Hello friends! Warmer weather is in the air, and it is welcomed with gratitude here on the farm! There are so many updates to catch you all up on, but we’ll stick to the essentials for now.

With market season starting, sadly Grateful Roots Farm will not be at the Puyallup farmer’s market this year. The focus will be on establishing infrastructure around the farm such as finishing out the vegetable processing building and placing tarps over the garden to help with w**d control so that in the future the farm is as prepared as possible to share our products with you!

The second update for you all comes with a heavy heart as the farm sees Bree move on to focus on other avenues of life. She has been a key influence on the farm from its initial conception of a dream to what it has came to be today. We are grateful for all of the things she did to bring us here, and we look forward to seeing what the foundations she helped build bring for the farm in the future.

I will do my best to get our monthly email newsletter back up and going, and of course I will continue to keep you all updated on here! 🧡☀️🌱

We are grateful to have had time this year to try some new trellising techniques. One of those being a pumpkin tunnel. We used T-posts and cattle panels with bailing twine to tie it all together.

With a little bit of us helping to weave the vines into the panels every couple days, the tunnel worked out great for the pumpkins and saved a lot of space in the garden.

We originally planned to make hammocks for the pumpkins to be supported in, but as the year got busy, projects like that fell by the wayside. We were pleasantly surprised at how well the pumpkins supported themselves though. From smaller sugar pie pumpkins to larger 20 pound jack o lantern size, we didn’t have a single one even start to break its stem.

Overall, it was a fun and beautiful addition to our garden, and we are excited to see how it improves in the future!

While this cooler Washington weather has us dreaming of crisp fall days, there is still lots of summer fun happening on the farm! Buck is falling right into the swing of farm life and loving all the different places to explore with his big brother and sister.

We’ll be missing everyone at the market this weekend, but we’ll have lots of fresh beautiful veggies for you on the 31st!
