Happy National Farmers Day & Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

Today, we honor the farmers whose hard work continues to nourish our communities, and the resilience, stewardship, cultures, and enduring presence of Indigenous peoples across our state and nation.

We spent this beautiful evening digging dahlia tubers and slowly putting the flower field to rest for the season. It’s always a little bittersweet, but we’re incredibly grateful for the warm fall weather that has allowed our blooms to keep going well into October.

Such a beautiful day!

We are grateful for the beautiful weather, blooms, healthy vegetables, of friends and families that stopped by, and of the support of our customers and the farmers market community.

Days like today remind us why we continue to do this work. Farming can be demanding, unpredictable, and full of long hours, but moments of connection make it all feel especially meaningful.

Seeing familiar faces, meeting new visitors, sharing what we have grown, and watching flowers and food leave our hands to become part of someone else’s home, meal, or memory is such a gift.

We are grateful for the people who continue to choose local, support small family farms, and show up for the farmers and growers who help nourish our community.

Thank you for being part of another beautiful day with us.

So much love went into creating this beautiful fall arrangement, filled with dahlias, snapdragons, eucalyptus, pokew**d, verbena, and Joe-Pye w**d, each stem adding its own texture, movement, and bit of seasonal beauty.

The fragrance is just as lovely, with soft notes of vanilla, mint, and fresh greenery coming together in the sweetest way. It feels like autumn gathered into one arrangement: a little wild, a little romantic, and full of everything we love about this time of year.

This bouquet was made with someone special in mind, with the hope that it brings a little light, comfort, and rest to their days. Sometimes flowers can say what words cannot, a gentle reminder to slow down, breathe, and receive a little beauty in the midst of everything.

As the flower season begins to wind down, every bloom feels a little more precious, and every arrangement becomes a small offering of care.

Today is our last day of U-Pick flowers for the season! We’ll be open until 7 PM, so come wander the fields, pick all the blooms you love, and soak in the last little bits of summer before the season turns.

It's hard to believe we’ve reached the end of another flower season.

Thank you for all the support this year. We’re so grateful for every visit, every bouquet picked, every conversation shared, and every person who chose to spend a little time with us at Maiv Flower Farm.

Your continued support allows us to keep growing not only flowers, but also community, memories, and a place where people can slow down and simply enjoy being here.

So if you’ve been meaning to make one last visit, today is the day. Come fill a bouquet, take a few photos, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the fields one more time before we begin putting them to rest for the season.

We had the opportunity to talk with Joy Powers of WUWM for a recent Swing State of the Union segment about Wisconsin’s food system, the realities facing small growers, and what it takes to keep locally grown food moving from farms to families.

For our family, farming has always been about more than what we grow. It’s about feeding people, preserving tradition, and building stronger connections between farms and the communities they serve.

Small farms are disappearing, and when they do, we lose more than food production, we lose knowledge, community connections, and an important part of a resilient local food system.

It isn’t only about buying local. It is about building a food system that is more connected, more resilient, and rooted in relationships between the people who grow food and the communities they feed.

We’re grateful to Joy and the WUWM team for making space for the voices and experiences of small farmer and especially for allowing us to share a piece of our family’s story.
