Just a run through of our small pumpkin patch.

This is what we call the “top coop.” It was the first one we constructed and we did it in a hurry. It has served its purpose and gave our chickens a safe home. We are thinking about a bigger run in the future but for now it was time to clean!

Tomatoes hit heavy this year. We weighed the haul of cherries and came up with almost 10 pounds in the wife’s 10-15 minutes work. Is this 8 or 9 pounds of tomatoes?!

The lads and lassies enjoyed their cabbage on St Paddy's Day but unfortunately, they laid me no golden eggs. Though I hear these days eggs are almost worth their weight in gold!

This magnificent bird is my very sweet Junie or June Bug. He is the son of our first rooster ever here, Doc Watson. Doc, an absolute gentle giant, is no longer with us.
Junie is not the giant that his poppa was but he is just as gentle. He is the absolute sweetest boy i have ever seen. He regularly gets a rough time from the Tennessee Stud, the alpha rooster in his flock. Instead of fighting back, June Bug just runs....and runs....and runs. He adores his ladies, taking them for very long walks to the bottom of the yard! But Junies favorite place to be is by my side, getting treats! He will sit beside me on a hay bale and listen intently while I tell him stories, where is is also safe from the evil Tennessee!..............and check out those awesome eyebrows!!!

Luna is loving her some snow this morning! You see Chappy on his way to her for some grooming time...he was anxious to clean the snow off her beak! He's a pretty good fella to his ladies, as he should be, most of them are triple his size!!!

The d'uccles stayed in the garage through the cold snap. They have done exceptionally well with the cold this winter but they are so small. I was afraid negative temps may have been a bit more than they could handle. I'm pretty sure they think they have been on vacation and would stay in there indefinitely!

Winnie is so cold she's trying to figure out how to get into my hood! Actually these little troopers do great in the cold. I was worried and fully prepared to move the d'uccles into the garage when it gets really cold but so far, they aren't bothered by it....sometimes I wish my core temp was over 100° and I was covered in downy feathers!
