Two of the most asked questions we get is how much does a half hog cost and how much meat do you get❓ We charge by the hanging weight and each hog is a little different so it’s hard to say exactly. Hog halves/wholes are $3.60/lb of hanging weight plus the processing fee. Processing fees also differ based on how much your hog weighs and how much you get smoked. The processor charges $3/lb extra for smoked items like bacon, ham and neck bones. 🥓
Here’s a great example of one of our customer’s halves that we picked up earlier this week! The hanging weight on this whole hog was 220lbs which made this half 110lbs.
110lbs x $3.60 = $396 + $181 processing = $577 total for this half hog. Here’s a list of everything the customer got back:
🐽11 packs of bacon
🐽20lbs of sausage
🐽5 packs of boneless chops (2/pack)
🐽1 slab of baby back ribs
🐽1 slab of spare ribs
🐽2 Boston butts, split (3.4lbs, 4.3lbs)
🐽4 packs of sliced tenderloin (4/pack)
🐽5 packs of bone in chops (2/pack)
🐽2 smoked hams, split (~8lbs each)
🐽1 pack of neck bones, smoked
As far as freezer space, each half hog is usually 3 paper sacks full (see photo). 🛍️
We still have half/whole hogs available for pickup in July. We are taking deposits now for those ($100 for a half, $200 for a whole). Once those are sold we won’t have any more availability until December! 🎄
