Good morning! Beef sales for this year have almost wrapped up! We currently have limited space for ground beef to be picked up December 2-5 (20 lb minimum for $7/lb) and we are in to 2027 for quarters/halves/whole cows. Our first pick up date is January 13-17 and is about halfway sold out. Last night we worked 25 piglets! We tagged and wormed everyone and castrated all 11 males.

Sweet Grown Alabama has put together these awesome boxes that include all Alabama grown products! Pickup is the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and there are pickup locations all over the state including the Elmore County Extension Office!

Sweet Grown Alabama is partnering with the Alabama Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association and Boozer Farms to bring you the Sweet Grown Alabama Thanksgiving Collection, a box filled with the flavors of local from EIGHT Alabama farms.

For $50, each box includes sweet potatoes, apples, satsumas, pumpkin, pecans, cornmeal, broccoli and seasonal jelly. Everything you need to add a little more Alabama to your Thanksgiving table!

Orders close November 23. Pre-ordered boxes will be available for pick up November 24 from Reeves’ Peach Farm in Hartselle, Boozer Farms CSA locations including Birmingham, Montgomery, Prattville and Auburn, and Sessions Farm Market in Mobile. Holtville friends, if you’re going to Holtville Elementary School’s Harvest Festival this Thursday be sure to stop by the silent auction for a chance to bid on our pork sampler box and Campbell Farm hat! All proceeds from the auction are put right back into the classrooms for supplies and other needed items!

One question we get asked a lot is how long we’ve been raising pigs. Well, it just so happens that this time 5 years ago we picked up our first two pigs! Barrett was only about 6 weeks old, Harper wasn’t quite 2 and we loaded everyone up on a trip to pick up two Kune Kune piglets. Talk about adding to the chaos. 🤣 We’ve learned a ton since then and are breeding larger, faster growing hogs now. You’ve got to start somewhere and this was where it all began for us!
