Update 6/22 @ 2:35 pm
Maddie is doing great, and if everything keeps going the way it did yesterday, she may come home as early as FRIDAY EVENING!
Her team shared this morning that everything looked as they expected on the MRI; the blood clot looks unchanged, and there is a real possibility that it will stay permanently. The treatment is to remain on blood thinners.
Diabetes insipidus, a disorder of salt and water metabolism marked by intense thirst and heavy urnination, occurs when the body can’t regulate how it handles fluids. This will most likely be a life long condition that will need consistent monitoring, but it is very easy to control from an outpatient setting.
Morgan spoke with the doctor this morning, before Maddie woke up, about the movement in the left side of her face and her eyes. He said he didn't want to give false hope, and there is a real possibility that it won't change. It’s possible with rehab and time healing is possible. It could take 8 months to a year to heal. Would you pray for miraculous healing?
Maddie was happy to get her phone this morning and she and Keith are working on going though HUNDRENDS of messages and snaps.
The rest of the week will most likely look like lots of paperwork, getting set up with outpatient services, and ordering the equipment she'll need to come home.
Everyone, including those on her medical team are incredibly proud of her and amazed that she has progressed as fast as she has. They fully expected AT LEAST a 3 month hospital stay.
Please continue praying for Madison as she heals.
