In the mountains of Tarrazú the Robles family run a micro-mill that processes coffee with intention and precision.

Over the years they have invested in infrastructure, new machinery and techniques to perfect coffee production.
They have gained international recognition from green coffee buyers who seek fine coffee with alternative processing methods.

Many coffee farm owners in the region who don’t have the means to process their own coffee trust the Robles father and son team to help with the final steps to export their harvest.

We are fortunate that our El Chiral, Costa Rican coffee goes through the hands of the Robles family. Given the passion and attention to detail that they have, we are sure that their work makes a huge difference in the final product. For this we are truly grateful for them!

At hacienda el chiral coffee pickers are paid above fair trade prices.

Ethical compensation for work is simply a prerequisite for us. We believe coffee can be a vehicle to improve the livelihoods of people in every step of the supply chain.

Here you can see the Jiminez family measuring out some of the coffee cherries picked that day in a “cajuela”.
A cajuela is an official government-regulated unit specifically for coffee volume.

This standardized practice makes it easy for the Jiminez family to pay workers competitive wages.
