Morning Glory Farm, started in 1975 by James and Deborah Athearn, grows about 60 acres of vegetables and small fruits here on the island of Martha's Vineyard. Small successive plantings of a wide variety of crops supply the farmstand, which opened in 1981. These crops include sweet corn, lettuce, carrots, beets, tomatoes, melons, potatoes, beans, squash, pumpkins and more. We also raise two acres

of flowers and small plantings of strawberries, blueberries, peaches and beach plums. Our beef and pork are raised in Edgartown and Chilmark, and our henhouse is just down the road from the farmstand. Non-Discrimination Statement

We have two books and they do different things.

Morning Glory Farm: And the Family That Feeds an Island is the origin story of this place, told through personal accounts from the family, the field, and the kitchen. It includes 70 recipes, contributions from local chefs who cook with our produce, and photography by Alison Shaw. In 2009 it won the Gourmand World Cookbook Award for Best Local Cuisine in the United States. The print edition is out of print, but it was digitized and is available as an e-book.

The second book, Morning Glory's Farm Food, is organized by season and crop so you can cook with what is fresh all year long. It goes behind the scenes of farm life, features recipes alongside stories from the field, and highlights other Island farms we work with. Also photographed by Alison Shaw, this one is still in print and you can pick it up right here at the farmstand.

Both books are available digitally online either on their own or in a bundle. Grab your copy today: https://morninggloryfarm.com/product-category/e-books/

Our flowers come from our own fields, which means they are as fresh as the lettuce on the table next to them.

A bunch for the house, the porch, or the kitchen counter. We have them in the farmstand now.

Come pick what catches your eye.

Good news: our loyalty rewards system is fully up and running as of June 8th!

Since our register changeover on April 30th, your points have accumulated correctly and your rewards have been calculated, but we were temporarily unable to apply them at the register. That’s now fixed.

On your next visit, any rewards you’ve earned will be waiting for you. Thank you for your patience while we worked through the technical aspects! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns in the comments below!

There are still a couple of ways to join the CSA before the window closes!

The 10-week farm produce share and the 10-week bread share are both open through June 15. That is one week from today. If you have been sitting on the fence, this is the week to decide.

The flower CSA has a little more runway, with sales open through July 1.

Each share is a piece of what the farm grows, coming to you through the season.

Sundays on the farm have their own pace.

The work does not stop. The fields need tending seven days a week, and so does the farmstand. Most of the crew is here before 9, doing the part of the job that happens before anyone else walks through the door.

We like it this way. Come see us when you are ready.

Save the date! 🍓

Our annual Strawberry Festival is happening June 20, and we’re already looking forward to a day full of strawberries, good food, community, and summer at the farm.

More details coming soon, but for now: mark your calendars and get ready for one of our favorite days of the season.
