Not a beginner horse, needs an intermediate rider. A little skittish on the ground and not easy to catch in pasture until he trusts you. Once in a halter he's great! Stands for farrier, loads in trailer, was used for some 4h and some barrels, needs a consistent rider to really thrive. Does have some vision loss on left side but could really thrive with a rider who has the time to spend on him. I just haven't had much time to spend on him lately.

Curio and Vain kindled 3 beautiful broken kits and 3 days later Vain took on a little foster from Shot.

Sadly before they where 2 weeks old we had a day where we hit 98 and all of our rabbits struggled a bit with the heat, Its very rare we hit the high 90s without some sort of cooling rain in the evening, when we get over 89 we cool the barn down with water 1-2 times per day.

Unfortunately when I did my afternoon barn check the babies where over heating. I immediately pulled the box and brought it in the house where my son and I worked to slowly cool the 4 kits down. One kit had already passed and I was unable to revive it, the other 3 started to cool down but one was starting to show neurologic signs. By bed time all 3 kits where cooled down but the 1 still wasn't right. It had cooled down outside so I returned them to mom and hoped and prayed the neurological baby would make it through the night. The next morning the kit with the issues had passed away and the last of Vains kits and Shot's kit where both doing well and are still doing well. Next year we will plan to not breed from mid June through mid July unless we are able to rig a misting system and keep the barn a little cooler.

I often debate myself on how much to post here but the reality is we are human and sometimes mistakes are made. I share this kindle story to hopefully help others learn from my own mistakes.

About a month ago I bred Pi***la and Shot. Everything went well. When it was time to put in a box and nesting materials everything was done on time. She started to build a nest but 3 days later Shot flipped her box and all materials. I set it up and again and gave her more material. The next day she had flipped it again. The only experience I had with this behavior in the past the doe was not pregnant and wanted the box out of her space. So I removed the box (Mistake 1)

About 3 days past due Shot gave birth to 2 babies on the wire. 1 baby was already diseased (we tried very hard to revive it) but baby 2 was still alive so we fostered it to another doe that had kindled 3 kits 3 days prior and let Shot be thinking she was done as she never lookedfelt/acted pregnant in the first place (Mistake 2 we should have given her a nest to raise the 1 living kit). 2 days later she gave birth to 4 more kits on the wire, we fed late that sunday (mistake 3) by the time we found them she had eaten 1/2 of 2 of them and the other 2, while living, mom had eaten 2 limbs off 1 and 3 off the other and both had to be put down.

I dont blame Shot for this major mishap these where all my mistakes that I have had to learn from. I truly hate learning lessons the hard way especially at the cost of the animals I care for but sadly it is a part of life and owning livestock.

Now you know:
1. even if they flip the box fix it and leave it until long after they are due.
2. If they give birth on the wire just set up the box and give them the chance to raise thier young.
3. If you think they are done giving birth they may not be.
4. Rabbits can give birth even 2 days apart....

Any way you look at it Shot will get to try again as she is usually a good momma and her single surviving kit is thriving with another mom and her kits.

S'mores last 2 kindles are growing strong. Everyone has been tattooed, 2 boys have moved on to a new home, several girls are staying to grow out but all broken patterns will be moving on as I have too many broken. They are all so friendly and sweet! Can't wait to see how they grow.

Hey all I am helping out a friend she has some very nice quality animals for sale. She is down sizing her farm just a bit. Located in Edgewood NM.

Last we have her pride and joy pure Alpine goats. They peak at about 2 gals of milk a day per girl. 3 does, 2 in milk and one younger one. Also 1 buck and 2 ducklings.

She also has a 3 tier tsc rabbit stacker available.
