EDUCATION: What do these lap puppies cost?
Your soul, your love, your dedication, they cost everything….and return it all in fluffy, bouncy love and affection!
Pricing is determined by conformation, pedigrees, markings and wool quality.

I see a lot of people sticker shocked or very unaware of the cost of Valais. Bringing in and maintaining the Swiss standards on this Swiss breed is a lot of work and is costly. We can only import semen, and most recently, embryos. Most LAI results are about 67% and embryos are 50% or less. There’s a lot of risk with this way of breeding as well.

To put it as kindly as possible… please stop expecting the hard working breeders importing semen and embryos to rehome their stock for pennies. If you do find cheap stock, know that it is likely cheap for a reason. Commercially bred stock will not have the pedigrees and quality in conformation, wool, etc that a small breeding program will. A small program that assesses their current stock to see what needs improved upon with each generation. These breeders take the time to find semen from a quality ram that will ‘hopefully’ pass on the traits needed improved upon.

With this information, I put together a VERY loose, approximate price range list for ewes and wethers of the Valais breed. Some will be higher and some will be lower. If they’re quite a bit lower, I would be questioning things.

Pongo the Goat rings bells for the Salvation Army in Pueblo. He's been ringing bells for the Salvation Army since 2023 in Colorado City.

This year, for the first time, he's visiting Tractor Supply Co. in Pueblo, spreading holiday cheer in a whole new town.

I have chosen to rehome a couple of my older mature dairy does to reduce the herd size for winter. I am working on making some changes and possibly go a different direction with the goats. I would love for them to all go together but I understand that not always possible. All are unregistered.

They would be great starting stock for a small starting dairy homestead but also, since they are older, a pet or sanctuary home would be good. Especially for one of my does, which due to difficult circumstances, cannot be used as a breeder or anything since she is now disabled. I can go into more detail upon inquiry.

I have three Nubian does that are bonded and ideally I’d like to go together. Two are 6yrs and one is 8yrs.

I have a 7yr old Alpine and a 5yr old Lamancha which are bonded and would be best to go as a pair.

All 5 of them can go together as a packaged deal, or of course the two groupings or as singles. The Nubians are special to me so serious inquiries only and I will be particular about who they go to.

Medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), especially caprylic acid (C8), capric acid (C10), and lauric acid (C12), are found abundantly in raw goat milk—and they come with a long list of health benefits that make goat milk uniquely nourishing and therapeutic.

🥛 What Are Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFAs)?

Unlike long-chain fatty acids (found in cow’s milk and many processed foods), MCFAs are shorter in structure, which makes them:
• Easier to digest
• Quickly absorbed by the intestines
• Directly transported to the liver for energy use (rather than stored as fat)

💪 Health Benefits of MCFAs in Raw Goat Milk

1. Instant Energy Source

MCFAs are metabolized like carbohydrates—they’re quickly converted into energy rather than stored as body fat. This makes raw goat milk great for:
• Athletes needing quick fuel
• Elderly or ill individuals with poor digestion
• Children in growth phases

2. Gentle on the Digestive System

Goat milk’s MCFAs:
• Require less bile for digestion
• Are easily tolerated by people with compromised guts or poor fat digestion (e.g. those with IBS, Crohn’s, or celiac disease)
• Help ease constipation and improve gut motility

3. Supports Weight Management

Because MCFAs boost thermogenesis (calorie-burning), they may help:
• Increase fat oxidation
• Improve metabolic rate
• Promote satiety and reduce cravings

4. Antimicrobial and Antifungal Protection

Especially caprylic and lauric acid:
• Fight yeast (Candida) overgrowth
• Inhibit harmful bacteria like H. pylori, Staph, and E. coli
• Help balance the gut microbiome and support immune function

5. Brain Health and Clarity

MCFAs, particularly C8 and C10, are used by the liver to produce ketones, a clean-burning fuel for the brain. This may:
• Enhance focus and mental clarity
• Support neuroprotection
• Benefit individuals with cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s, or epilepsy

6. Reduces Inflammation

MCFAs have been shown to:
• Lower oxidative stress
• Reduce inflammatory markers in the gut and bloodstream
• Support recovery from inflammatory conditions

7. Supports Immune Function

Lauric acid (also in breast milk) converts to monolaurin, a compound that:
• Strengthens immune defense against viruses
• Helps the body resist pathogens without antibiotics
• Promotes healing during illness

🐐 Why Raw Goat Milk Is Special

Compared to cow milk:
• Raw goat milk has more MCFAs per serving
• Its fat globules are smaller, increasing digestibility
• It provides these fats in their natural, unprocessed form, which preserves their therapeutic effects
