Freezer day is complete. Several packages of chicken breasts, thighs, gizzards, livers, hearts, and several quarts of canned broth.
These chickens were raised right here on our farm and processed for our family’s meat supply. Raising your own food takes time, work, and responsibility, but it’s one of the most rewarding parts of homesteading.
How much money did we save by doing this? None 😂 We believe there’s value in being connected to the food on our table. Raising and processing our own chickens allows us to know exactly where our meat comes from, how it was raised, and the work that goes into every meal. It’s not always easy, but it’s something we find deeply rewarding.
