SUMMER PRAYER SERIES (Prayers for the Teaching Journey)- DAY 5. Today, I want you to pray for BALANCE.

Balance: an appropriate view of our priorities and limitations; work-life balance
We must not be so focused on our job as teacher that we neglect our other God-given roles.

Prayer prompts:
--Pray and thank God for the gift of limitations: You cannot do all things for all people, all the time. This limitation is not a flaw, it is God’s design.
--Pray for discernment on what commitments you should make, in school, in church, in the community, etc.
--Pray for wisdom on which things you may need to step away from this year, in order to give priority to more important things, such as spending time with the Lord and your family.
--Pray for a balance of grace and accountability with your class.
--Pray for balance when making your to-do list for each day. The Internet is filled with things you can implement in your classroom - but it doesn't mean you have to do it all. Pick and choose what fits your style, your classroom, and your students.

Scripture to read and meditate on today:
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.

SUMMER PRAYER SERIES (Prayers for the Teaching Journey)- DAY 4. Today, I want you to pray for ENTHUSIASM.
Enthusiasm: excited and eager enjoyment and interest; passion or zeal
We serve the Lord and our students by being enthusiastic about learning new things, growing together, taking risks, and developing in maturity.

Prayer prompts:
-Pray that the Lord will give you a renewed enthusiasm for teaching, investing in your students, and managing your classroom.
-Pray that your enthusiasm will be evident and contagious so that you will encourage your students to develop an enthusiasm for learning.
-Do you have like-minded coworkers who love the Lord? Praise God for them! Pray for opportunities to encourage one another, pray and/or study the Bible together, and share what God has done in your lives. Pray that your enthusiasm would be a witness to the joy that comes from wholeheartedly serving the Lord.

Scripture to read and meditate on today:
Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people.

SUMMER PRAYER SERIES (Prayers for the Teaching Journey)- DAY 3
Today, I want you to pray for YOUR SCHOOL STAFF.

This morning's prompt is particularly fitting for me as I am reporting back to school for my first teacher workday of the year today! 🥰 Looking forward to another year of teaching, serving, and investing in 3rd graders!

Let's pray for both your administration and your coworkers this morning.
>>ADMIN: Serving in administration is a weighty position and a high calling. Please take time to specifically pray (by name if you can) for the men and women in leadership positions at your school and in your broader school district: superintendent, principal, vice principal, behavior specialists, counselors, etc. As they are overseeing the daily operations, they need our prayer.

Prayer prompts:
-Pray that, if they haven’t already, they would come to saving faith in Jesus Christ as Lord this year.
-Pray for grace and accountability as they make tough decisions and work with students, parents, and teachers.
-Pray that they would be strong leaders for their staff and would truly listen to the needs of their community. Pray for wisdom as they seek to keep the school a safe place for the teachers to teach in and the students to learn in.

>>COWORKERS: One of the greatest factors in determining how a teacher feels about her school year is the relationships with her teaching team/coworkers. Positive relationships with fellow teachers will help a teacher feel valued, supported, and capable. As far as it depends on you, seek to work in harmony with the other teachers in your school.

Prayer Prompts:
-Pray for your grade-level team members (or school-wide coworkers if you are the only teacher per grade). Pray for them by name.
-If your team members do not know the Lord, pray for eyes to see opportunities to share the Gospel with them. Pray for boldness and open hearts when these occasions arise.
-Pray that they will work diligently, as for the Lord. Pray that you would model a God-honoring work ethic to them.
-Pray for a spirit of cooperation and collaboration rather than one of competition.
-Pray for eyes to see strengths and giftings in others. Pray for opportunities to encourage and edify your coworkers.
-When disagreements arise, pray that your attitude would be marked by maturity, patience, and understanding.

Scripture to read and meditate on today:
Romans 12:18 If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Today, I want you to pray for YOUR STUDENTS. Teacher, you can confidently trust that the names on your roster are not there by accident. The Lord has specifically placed each student in your classroom on purpose and for a purpose. I want you to set aside time today to pray for them - by name if you can. Remember, you are the exact teacher that they need for this school year, and as the teacher, you need them.

Prayer prompts:
-Pray that your students will grow in their love of learning.
-Pray that they will feel at home in your classroom.
-Pray that they will will put forth their best effort.
-Pray that they will make wise choices.
-Pray that they will make friends and be welcoming to their classmates.
-Pray that the Lord will open their hearts to Him and come to a saving faith in Jesus.
-Pray that you will be a shining example of a Christ-follower to each student, whether you are able to proclaim the gospel openly, or whether you must do so more subtly by your actions and attitudes.

Scripture to read and meditate on today:
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.
