Everyone needs a chore buddy! One of mine is Wyatt. He is a rat terrier. He was raised on the farm. He loves chasing mice and riding on ANYTHING that moves.

Did you know, dogs need to have jobs on the farm too? They are not just here for emotional support, farm dogs work for their keep.

I know we haven't posted much lately. I apologize for that. The doctor visits and the hospital bills and the insurance claims are enough to make you crazy. We are STILL raising our meat responsibly and sourcing it locally. Even in the tough times we WILL NOT compromise our standards. We might be a little delayed but we are not out of the game. We STILL have a freezer FULL of pork products by the pound. Give us a shout and we will get your questions answered and your order delivered. Thank you all for your support!!!

Farm Fact Friday!!!
Why are small local farms important? Here is only a few of the many reasons:

👨‍🌾Small farms are often better stewards of the land, focusing on sustainable and regenerative practices.

🚛Reduced "Food Miles" & Carbon Footprint: Because local food travels shorter distances from the farm to your table, there is significantly less fuel used for transportation, resulting in a lower carbon footprint.

🌿Enhanced Biodiversity: Small farms are more likely to grow a diverse variety of crops and livestock, including heritage or specialty varieties. This variety supports a healthier ecosystem, encourages pollinators (like bees), and makes the land more resilient to pests and disease.

💊Soil Health: Many small farmers utilize practices like crop rotation, cover cropping, and minimal tilling. These methods are essential for building healthy, nutrient-rich soil, which is often the first thing depleted by large-scale monoculture farming.

💦Water Conservation: They often employ targeted, efficient irrigation systems (like drip irrigation) and focus on improving soil's natural ability to retain moisture, reducing the strain on local water sources.

Nothing is wasted....

Clumsy us? Nah, we're just efficient! 🙃 Any grain we spill, our chickens are like, 'Score! Free lunch!' And in return, they give us farm fresh eggs. It's a win-win... or should I say, a scratch-scratch-win? 😂

Sunday Funday, baby!!! 🎉
Since we're smack in the middle of NFL season, let's get this food coma started with some crazy stats about football and grub!
🏈 Did you know that Super Bowl Sunday is the second-biggest eating day in the US, right after Thanksgiving? 🦃 Talk about a national snack-oliday! 🎉
🐓And, fun fact: we devour an estimated 1.25 BILLION chicken wings during Super Bowl weekend. That's enough to circle the Earth three times, people! 🌎
🍽Oh, and don't even get me started on the guac - we're talking 139 million pounds of avocados in just one week! 🥑
🍺And to wash it all down? Approximately 325.5 million gallons of beer, which is enough to fill an Olympic-sized pool almost 2,000 times! 🏊‍♂️

Farm Fact Friday!!!
Why local food matters...

*Economic Benefit Fact: The Local Food Multiplier
When consumers buy food directly from local farmers, the money spent circulates through the community at a significantly higher rate than when that same money is spent at a national chain store.

This is known as the local food multiplier effect. Local farmers are more likely to spend their revenue on other local businesses (like farm equipment repair, local banks, or community services), which creates a cascading effect of economic activity, leading to more local jobs and higher local income for the entire community.

In one estimate: Buying local is often said to keep approximately 65% of the dollar circulating within the community, compared to a much lower percentage at large non-local chain stores.
