Hello Friends,

I have a ton of messages about employment at OBI Egegik, so I hoped on here to do some admin, as there is no one else left around to do so. My first thought was to take this page down, but I don't have the heart to do it. If you're new and looking for work at OBI Egegik, this opportunity no longer exists. That's not to say Egegik is slipping into the river. Silver Bay Seafoods has acquired the plant and converted the site into a fleet services platform, which the fleet needs. Staff includes a hand full of essential people. The people and culture of Egegik fish processing has been absorbed into the Silver Bay Seafoods bay production program; which includes Wood River, Dillingham, Naknek East, and Naknek Cannery (or Naknek West). The vast majority of Egegik folks shifted to Naknek West.

So you can say Egegik moved to Naknek West. Same culture, different place, different company. Silver Bay is a continously evolving company, which is attractive to me, always searching for the better in every aspect.

Feel free to hop over to Naknek. Egegik not far away, but always close to our hearts.

Just about wrapped up here for 2024. More bears than people at this point. I'm leaving the plant in a day and had the time to hop on Facebook and realize not much has been posted this season. I'll take this opportunity to thank everyone that stuck with us to the end of this odd season. The fish weren't there, but you were, so I hope you had a positive experience. We're a remote village in the bristol bay region, designed to house 280 employees for a summer. The plant is older than your great great grandpa, but we try hard to make the best of it. All on all, I think it works. I've met life long friends here, and a major part of what makes me come back year after year is that experience. My goal for you is to have that same experience. If it doesn't work out that way, let me know why, I'm a listener. I listen because you, reading this as an employee of obi egegik, are the true bread and butter of the operation. You take the fish and turn it into a thing you'd want to buy at a supermarket. You're the ones that make that happen. So thank you crew of 2024.

Sorry for the water bottles and no hats, my budget was tight this year, maybe next year will be different. Suggestions on suvoirs welcome........enjoy a random image of some of my favorite people here.
