Another Saturday, another morning with the goats.

Three sessions - 9:15, 10:15, and 11:15 - inside the Baby Goat Playground. They wander the whole time, so don't be surprised if one settles in right next to your mat like it's part of the class.

Coffee's on-site most mornings if you want to come hang out, but always goat cuddles available. No ticket needed for that part.

$15 per person, $5 for ages 2-5. Sessions fill fast.

Late summer means the to-do list doesn't shrink; it just changes shape.

Fields that were planted in spring are winding down. Fall prep is already starting underneath the surface, even before it looks like anything's happening.

Farming doesn't really have an off-season. A different kind of busy.

I want kids to leave here knowing that food doesn't just appear the way it seems to on a shelf or a plate, that animals actually have a role in it, that soil matters more than most people realize, and that there's a whole system behind everything they eat and see every single day.

But more than just knowing it, I want them to feel it. To actually touch it, ask questions about it, and get a little dirty in the process, because that's really what ends up sticking with a kid long after the tour's over.

Fall school tour spots are already filling up, so if you're planning a group visit, visit our website https://www.evelynesfarm.com/school-tours

These two have been arguing the same point for a week straight, and at this point I don't think either of them even remembers what started it.

A few times a day, they'll just meet up in the middle of the field, bonk heads like they're finally going to sort it out, and then wander off to go back to grazing like nothing happened at all.

Goat diplomacy, I guess. Whatever works.

The calendar just flipped to fall, though nothing out here got the memo yet. It's still warm, the pigs are still finding the muddiest spot in the pasture, and nothing about today looked any different than August.

That's usually how it goes. The season doesn't actually change the day the date does. It creeps in over the next few weeks — the light shifts a little earlier, the mornings get a little sharper, and one day you notice the field looks different than it did last week.

Right now we're still in the in-between. Summer's not quite done letting go.

Saturday morning just got better. Travelin' Tom's Coffee is pulling up for this week's session.

Three sessions today at the Baby Goat Playground — 9:15, 10:15, and 11:15. The goats roam free the whole time, so don't be surprised if one settles in right next to your mat like it's part of the class.

Grab a cup from the truck before or after your session — no ticket needed if you just want to come hang out with the goats and get your coffee fix.

$15 per person, $5 for ages 2-5. Sessions fill fast.

People think "no pesticides" means we just let nature take over. It's actually the opposite.

Growing this way takes more attention, not less. You have to understand your soil, your timing, your plant health. You have to think ahead.

And you have to accept that you won't control everything.

There's a real humility in it. You're part of a system out here. Not in charge of it.

I want people to exhale when they get here.

To feel like they can slow down for a minute. To feel connected - to the land, to their kids, to something real.

There's so much noise in everyday life. Screens, schedules, constant movement.

Out here, I want it to feel simple again. Like you can just be.
