These lovely ladies are sorted out to be the first test run of UK genetics here at Ross Farm. They will get CIDRs put in tonight and in 16 days will have a special visit to a veterinarian to get bred.

Hey Yinz! Mel will be set up at the Pittsburgh County Fair next to Knit Pit Yarn Club! She'll have Barn Raising Shirts and matching Totes, some of our Funky Cheviot yarn and some other goodies! There will also be a Shearing demonstration at 2:30! We hope to see Yinz there!

Crutching or Dagging sheep is the process of doing a sanitary trim on the sheep's rear end. I call them "Sheepy Brazilians".

We learned our first winter managing the flock that fluffy bums make lamb checks difficult, so this year before breeding season I trimmed all the girls (ALL 87 of them) up to make breeding season as successful as possible. They also get pedicures if they need them.
