First off, let me start by saying thank you to all that have sent us your kind words of support and offers of assistance over the past year, as we have tried to find a home for Knox Corners Brewing Company. I have nothing but respect for the City of El Cajon and its employees, as we worked together for the better part of 2014 to amend the City Ordinance that prohibited a brewery from opening a tasting room within El Cajon City limits. In December 2014, our partnership with the City was somewhat successful, as the City Counsel voted to amend the Ordinances to allow tasting rooms, but this success was ultimately short lived, as the proposed regulations on square footage and location would not work in our situation and unfortunately we had to abandon our quest to be El Cajon's first nano brewery.
2015 was a long year for Knox Corners, we finally found a location that seemed like it was "meant to be" our home from the beginning. It took some negotiation to gain access to the property, as it was not for lease when we discovered it, nor did the owner have a wish to lease the property. We hosted a few private tasting events with the owner and a few months later, she was on board! Since the property was located within the unincorporated area of San Diego County, our next task was to begin work with our County supervisor's staffers. This was not a task at all, as it was evident from the beginning that the County of San Diego is interested progress, job creation and economic growth. We were able to figure out a creative way for Knox Corners to fit into the long term goals of the County which then lead to the property lease negotiation. So..... In an effort to satisfy the numerous request of our Facebook and Twitter friends, I am please to share with you all that on November 15, 2015 we signed our lease in Lakeside, Ca! We have started the application process and will be posting updates as the process plays itself out on the Federal, State and Local level.
Again, thank you for your support! We have an artist working on renderings and I will try to post a few photos of the current condition and progress photos as we move along. Do to the number of people that have shown up to the mailing address for Knox Corners looking to taste some beer (Postal Center), I'm sure most of you will understand why we will not be posting the actual address at this time.
Thanks again......
